This. Even the strongest most independent anime women tend to go doki doki when the male love interest sticks up for them or tries to protect them, even if he is way weaker than they are. If that same scenario happens in a western film the woman gets all “get out of the way, you’re useless” on the man which is instinctually something men are averse to due to our nature as protectors.
