Which would be correct at the time because kill could specifically mean murder.

Actually not. The Douay Rhiems was translated from THE original Greek and Hebrew documents into Latin then Latin Vulgate. When Tyndale made the literal first early modern English translation of the New Testament, he was martyred. From that came the Geneva Bible, which set the standard for bad translation. So began the race for the public disclosure of the accurate word of God. The King James Version was released in 1611 and the Douay Rhiems in 1609. Both looked to the other's work and built on it and subsequently the archaic versions we have today of all bibles are 18th century revisions. KJV bibles are missing 7 books. Books that were in the bible before Jesus was just gone. Douay Rhiems has them. The only other comparison I would make is that the KJV reads more poetically while the DR reads in a more story telling style.
