salt pools are actually also chlorinated, just by the breakdown of the salt over time by electrolysis instead of the addition of hypochlorite so they're lower maintenance.
for a chlorine-free pool you need some type of metal ion system(usually silver), an ozonator, a UV sanitizer, or better yet some combination of those.
