Kek, that's literally a picture I took and uploaded to /lit/ and Jow Forums like a year ago.

Zipper head, besides the fact that I take great pleasure in the fact both of my grandfathers murdered your people during the second world war. (77th & 4th).

I wasn't necessarily listing by author faggot, also you forgot to whine about Sun Tzu since its highly unlikely he wrote the work entirely either.

How to get hooked on fiction lit?
I only enjoy reading non fiction at the moment.

Half of those books are not fiction.
The ones that you think are "fiction" are some cheap mass produced normie shit, they're classic literature, the best of the best that has been written in the western world.

“UFOs and the national Security State” part 1 and 2

Richard Dolan

You’ll never understand the deep state without UFOs

The Jow Forums reading list is a pretty massive joke and is pretty much intro philosophy 101 for any college student. You’re not going to learn the meaning of life from a fucking philosophy book, read some literature and your entire thought on life will change more than what you learn from Plato’s cave

>shit, strung out novels
>Econ philosophy books that you can learn in 10 minutes by watching a YouTube video

12 rules for life

I just got Strangers in a Strange Land after enjoying Starship Troopers immensely. How does it compare in your opinion?

>Dostoevsky - OP

Being and Time by Martin Heidegger

Fuck off CIA nigger no one is buying your UFOs meme

They're both great sci-fi.
One narrative is more political (Starship Troopers) the other is more mythological/psychological - just my opinion.

I don't understand why everyone always shills Ayn Rand's fiction. If you want to get a good concise grasp of her ideas, read Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal, and The Virtue of Selfishness. These two books say nearly everything you need to know, and they're not long and boring like The Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged.

Most fiction is pure time-wasting entertainment. Reading non-fiction is practical because it often teaches you something. You need to try the classics. Greek plays, Shakespeare, Dickens. The works that influenced the men who built the greatness of Western Society. Le Morte d'Arthur, Crime and Punishment, The Iliad & The Odyssey. These works, like fables, passed on messages about life, revealed an understanding about how the world works, how people think and behave, culture.

Contemporary authors are hard to find, those whose works are worth your time. Cormac McCarthy is a good start.

The new fiction table at your local bookstore is likely filled with pointless works.

100% agree, but if you do intend to try fiction then do so after reading a bit of non fiction so you can pick up on key themes and political theories in the fiction text. For example read Commie manifest and das kapital before reading Animal farm .

Read War and Peace, you already covered Tolstoy's other famous works. It is his best and one of the all-time greats.

Have you read Kangaroo by DH Lawrence?

Dostoevsky is patrician tier

Plato/Socrates is actually a fucking blast to read. He unironically got philosophy right on the first try. Aristotle’s denser and resembles modern writers more but it’s not as bad as the actual modernists/post-modernists.

If you're going to read that many pages why not Thomas Mann's Joseph tetralogy?

you bet.
it's on my list to get. ive put that one off a bit since ive heard it's rather slow and dry. i can only handle so much of that now that i have kids. i read the silmarillion before them and struggled to finish it. kids make it a lot harder to focus on a book like that.

I love Atlas Shrugged, but there's no way I could read it today. I just don't have the time anymore (I run my own transportation company). When I was in college and had much more free time, it was quite an enjoyable read.

Of course a commie recommends against having a good foundation before filling your head with ideological bullshit.

Memoirs of Casanova, The story of my life. It's 4000 pages long of 18th century none fiction of Casanovas life written by him. It's the best book ever written.

It's the real Count of Monte Cristo and 100% better. Casanova escapes from an 18th century high security prison. The book is hilarious and serious. You also learn practical life lessons.

It teaches more about life than any book you will ever read and I've read most of the books in this thread. None can really compare.

Whatever makes you sleep at night. Throw in some coelho so you have something to talk about with your gynecologist.

This set of literature is what all of us can relate to in our modern fascist era.

Excellent list. Make sure the Count of Monte Cristo is unabridged; it's a fun book written by a based black man

one cannot hope to navigate oneself in current contemporary affairs without as least a basic knowledge of the works of rawls, marx, nozick, hart, dworking, wittgenstein, kant, plato, nietszche, russell, feuerbach, heidegger, lyotard, marcuse, bruckner, kuhn and a couple of others. But I agree, reading the above-mentioned won't probably net one any monetary and is merely food for thought in the current vapid world.

We get it, you are pretending to be a college student. But you forgot one thing, there are no colleges in Romania.

Yeah cause reading Jewish fan fiction is really enlightening.

How do you guys read philosophy/political books? Do you take notes? Do you stop constantly to reflect on what has been said, to ponder whether you should make that opinion your own? How do you read for maximum output?

>reading books makes you more intelligent

Low IQ wielder detected.

''Starship Troopers'' or ''Do androids dream of electric sheep?'' are fun to read

I absorb information pretty well but also I revisit stuff a lot if it is difficult or compelling. Doesn't hurt to take breaks I guess. Importantly, the goal shouldn't be to find new ideas to adopt but rather to dwell in an alternative perspective, to see things from another angle.
