Freedom allows those that seek to conserve and those that seek progress to seek the positive aspects of what they value while minimizing their ability to force the negative aspects on others that disagree. Giving a conservative, or a progressive the ultimate power of the state is just a shortcut to disaster as 6000 years of history has shown.
We had 1 (one) century of beautiful freedom as our direction and it gave us the greatest achievements of human history. I won't sacrifice the opportunity to tap into that again for something I have no control over but has ultimate control over me and my time on this earth.

Are you telling the division of labour and businesses are collectivist just because multiple people cooperate and benefit eachother? Voluntary interaction for mutual benefit is the hallmark of a free society and things like mutual aid and friendly society organizations prove voluntaryism can produce great amounts of social cooperation without the need for collectivism.
