We really don't know. We don't have enough data of third positions to see how they actually develop once the conflict ends. Third position parties everywhere never got past the crisis stage since they are always defeated or in precarious positions (Peron, Gadaffi kinda)
Regarding the debt based system: I just recently understood this, but we really don't have a real alternative yet. We need money to be created from nothing in order to create wealth. Think about it this way: If wealth is fixed, and for each dollar you have 1 gold coin, then the more we are, the poorer everyone is. Double the population and everyone has half as much.
Also, immaterial things can't be measured like that. If wealth is always tied to material assets, we are tied to the land again, and all things abstract and of the mind would need patronage again to function since they produce things that have no real value.
This is the reason we were able to grow so much in the last 200 years. Personally, I think the system is reaching its limit because new technological discoveries are increasingly making it obsolete and more easily exploitable. When you reach that point, the system starts to bottleneck innovation and tech. And that was what happened before. 1 to 1 material wealth was holding progress back for hundreds of years until finally, the technological breakthrough of the industrial revolution was too much to bear.
When you really take a look at this, it becomes clear that going back to a material standard is not really an option. We need a way that continues to create value and wealth so social classes don't stagnate and it's members can come and go in a world that doesn't limit population growth. It's the only way to make it more fair and just.
Capitalism is reaching it's end yes, but not because it was a shitty system, but because it's time is ending. Nevertheless, people want to replace it with fucking socialism or a return to feudal economies.

We never have any real system. All systems would work if people behaved morally and respected the rules. The "it wasn't real communism" can be said about all other systems too.
We just don't dare to dream with reality in mind, we create theories that can be executed by a mythical version of ourselves because we just don't know how to deal with the fact that private interest exists and that humans like to dominate each other.
