There was an ancient Egyptian Mathematician who proved the Earth was round (and its radius) literally using trigonometry, shadows, etc like 3000 years ago.

Every major science breakthrough, a "conspiracy buff" looked at non-conforming clues harder. See microbes, tal proteins, properties of amber, carbonization of iron etc . Maybe dead ends in science mean a partially or wholly wrong model.

well that's because in a bedroom there exist walls which the light bounces off to create an ambient brightness. Presumably the analogous material to walls would not have this effect.
Also the sun would behave more like a spotlight than a room light.
