As much as I hate papists, they got it right about divorce. If they file for divorce, they're shunned by their church, friends, and family. If Protestants file for divorce, they use the church as a dating service.

you can't get rid of alimony totally because they'll be groups that will argue that a woman is giving up her career/job why they marry and thus are dependent. I think you might be able to have a 3 year limit put on it.

also get rid of the ''a lifestyle to which they have "become accustomed" because a man might lose or get a low paying job. I would also add get rid of prison sentences for these kinds of debters.

my line of thinking is to take away the potential life-ruining consequences that would come with a divorce and thus incentivising men to still get married.
