I've listened to a lot of JP lectures and not once have I heard him tell anyone to clean their room. Not really sure where this meme comes from but he does a pretty good job of identifying and explaining the causes of various aspects of the human mind. His university lectures are genuinely interesting in the way they weave together very disparate, almost random information into a coherent whole. I like the tangential way he presents his ideas, which are much more radical then they appear at first glance, I mean he's essentially gnostic but presents as some cultural Christian, which could be considered subversive. His ideas range from good to very deadly. He would be silenced in a healthier age but today he ranks somehow as one of the most clearest thinking public intellectuals.
