Gun bans if anything create small spikes in overall crime rates, when Britain introduced it's gun restrictions it's crime rates bumped up 6-8%, which is a pretty dramatic spike considering that as a whole Britain historically has never had substantial crime.

What part of "shall not be infringed" confuses you? The 2nd amendment specifically states that the state may not infringe on the rights of the people to keep and bear arms, and the supreme court has already ruled that the militia is every US citizen, so even though the document already makes a distinction that both the militia and people have a right to keep and bear arms, the supreme court decision makes it definitive, every single US citizen has the right to keep (buy, store, stockpile, etc) and bear (use for the purposes of anything that isn't unlawfully killing other people) arms (tools for increasing the capability of an individual to do violence).
