I always tougtht it was funny when some of my teacher friends went into trigger fits over Betsy Devos right off the bat. I mean, i'm no fan of her but why? What has she really even done anyway? And when I dug at it a little deeper it always seemed to come down to figuring out how to justify gibs rather than education or back in ye olde days when teachers were concerned about striking for contracts and whatever.

If they had no government funding, PP would likely have less funds to spend on influencing politics. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter if the exact same publicly sourced cash is spent on PP’s political endeavors; the money is often just numbers on a company screen. What matters is whether a partly publicly funded corporation will be influencing politics to give itself more gibs.

It's not just government funding. It also means they don't have to pay their taxes. So even if you assume they aren't running the usual sort of tax haven games and 100 other book-rigging things like every other corporation of that scle deos, then you have to ask yourself an easy question.

Are they really flying by the skin of their teeth to the point that they can't make it without that extra bit of profit margin? Because honest people can make it on a pretty slim profit margin. They don't need to cheat for that extra little bit to get by.
