slavery is immoral and less productive so we have to pay the staff something. If we're paying them then it's not free.

High school is paid for. So should other training.

NOTHING is FREE, you dipshit.

If you had any REAL education at all, you would understand this.

Nothing is free (without consequence).

Not bad, got even paid a couple of hundred bucks every month.

In my opinion, you should get a loan and not to pay it back if you graduate in time.

I’m a university English instructor.

Free education is a terrible idea. Firstly, the more people “earn” degrees, the less degrees are worth. It’s a simple matter of supply and demand.

Secondly, most people would be shocked to learn just how low standards for university admission have fallen. Every semester, I encounter students who are barely literate and can hardly articulate a cogent, grammatically proper sentence—even if their lives were to depend on it. Free education will only further lower these standards.

The only condition under which I could MAYBE see free education working: we dramatically raise the standards for admission, and only the very best and brightest receive a free education.

Let me pontificate for your edification.

>free education
>free medical care
>free housing
>free basic income

Why do young people actually think they should get everything free?

Most of these retards asking for free education are majoring in useless things like gender studies, lesbian dance theory, psychology, or theater. A lot of the kids majoring in these fields just party and goof off and aren't actually very productive in college. Why should my tax dollars go towards encouraging this type of behavior?

That said, I could be talked into tuition reimbursement for those majoring in STEM fields who earn above a 3.5 GPA.

Should adopting children be free? If you're not even willing to put money toward something, is it real important to you?

Because the (((education))) system has been intentionally breeding a generation of little communists.

I'd rather have full socialism, but it would be a start I guess.

>free
i.e. you pay for it, not me

i'm in the process of paying off my loans now. if education is made free for everyone, and student debt is wiped out after i pay my debt, who will reimburse me? if i go through the process of paying this shit off to better my life in the short term, then that has to have some effect in the long term. if have to waste years of my life in poverty while other people coasted through it and get rewarded, i'm shooting something up

no

I think the one on the left, needs an education in nutrition.

Can you spell Diabeetus?

There is free education in the western world. Grades 1 through 12. Everyone is given access to schools where they are taught to read and write.

Most western societies have libraries. Where you can go and read books. On all kinds of topics, and learn all kinds of things.

These people just want their feminist gender studies degree paid for.

>Omg how you dare to waste money in something useless as education!
>Yeah lets pay some trillons more for f-35s! MAGA MAGA MAGA

Americans are truly stupid

>BA in Engineering
>0 debt
Seems pretty good to me.

Most admission standards are depressing. A lot of land-grant universities also have a standing policy of not denying in-state applicants who meet basic requirements (i.e. not remedial), since they're chartered on public interest. Those two combined with everybody being allowed to get a student loan regardless of whether they're a rancher studying animal science or a sororislut studying sociology (even though the first is obviously a better return on his investment) means our entire tertiary education system is fucked.

t. taught college for a bit before getting the fuck out

Nothing is free, you pay for it whether you are using it or not. Fuck yourself.

no one cares about English faggot.

Because they where given everything they wanted (not just needed) by their parents without having to earn it and they think that is how everything should work. They see "the rich" as the replacements for their parents as they see their parents age and die so why shouldn't the rich people pay for everything for them like their parents did? They are terrified of actual work.

JLeft sent Bernie Sanders $150,000,000 because he promised "free" healthcare and education. Could've spent $75,000,000 on a hospital and $75,000,000 on a college and made them both "pay what you can afford." Instead of building something they tried to elevate a kike to a position where he could seize more of my resources. Fuck those faggots, I hope they starve.

This
>"There is no free lunch"

Your goverment haves money to spend, explain why giving education is not a good investment when education for everyone would be relatively cheap

America doesnt need to pay for higher education. They just import people when needed. Thats what H1b's are for.

>education has no value

WOW WHAT A FUCKING RIOT

Attached: download.jpg (287x175, 8K)

education is free, attending institutions of higher learning is not

>(((free)))

You mean... the way merit based scholarships work?

>fat chick demanding free education
If only she put at much money into her education as she did into her diet.

I will not pay for ladashas 4th year of gender studies.

Attached: Welfare Destroys.png (952x778, 67K)

Our government does not have money to spend, it runs a massive debt as it is. Don't >muh army at me, many of us don't want to spend so goddamn much on our military either.

We're a nation of 350 million. Educating everyone would not be cheap. We already do it for 12 years, and the cost per pupil is astounding when we wind up with such shit metrics. Adding college to that would be asinine.

Besides, if you're really smart enough to make a big difference with higher education, you'll get scholarships and grants anyway.

The truth is that you dont need education, because US imports all the talent around the world, the american dream is a damn good deal to leave your homeland.

Have you seen the products of the American Education System, Chileanon?
It's not education, we're complaining about.
It's what constitutes an education as well as the fact that acceptance into higher education is not merit based.
In fact graduation from high school is guaranteed with a C+ if you show up to class and don't rape the teacher. (If you do rape a teacher, you get an ankle bracelet and a C-)
t. former educator

Higher education should be both free and not required for most jobs.

Why shouldn't society collectively pay for these things for all people to have access to?

Why stop there? Why shouldn't society pay for food, clothing and transportation? What shouldn't society pay for?

You can use the basic income to buy food/clothing and pay for transportation.
I'm not sure how the idea is so foreign to people, we already pay taxes for shit like roads, schools and government.
Why not add some other things that are beneficial to society as a whole to the list?

Yes, based on standardized test scores and also based on demand in your area of study,
In addition, if you fall below an A average for more than one semester, you loose the scholarship.

Those things involve personal choices and most people can already afford it. Healthcare and education are things that shouldnt follow market logic

We’ve had public high school in the US in some form since the 17th century. That was what people needed to get a decent paying job then. Certainly most people will need more education than that in the modern post-industrial US? Time to modernize our systems. Of course college should be paid through taxes.

You can easily start that trend by giving your money to other people. You don't need luxury items, instead spend your spare money on things that benefit society as a whole.

Free education is the right to have lazy tax payed leftist faggots, inserting jewish poison into the minds of the youth. All the while you cant have any alternative of private high quality education or withdraw your kids from this hell of a school system. In the end graduates of (((free))) education have learnt to hate their country, become eunichs, cant even do basic math and spell/speak the language like niggers ( hay yo uait pepo). Basicaly (((free))) education makes you a nigger. Or worse a mongrel nigger.

apa.org/monitor/2014/07-08/sd.aspx

And how has that worked out? A high school 'education' is worthless now and students leave high school dumber than ever. Everyone is pushed to go to college, and now a bachelor's is practically worthless as well. Free university will drive the value of degrees down even further as well as the quality of education. If you want a society where everyone has to have a PhD for even menial entry level work then by all means beg for gibs school.

>Higher education should be both free and not required for most jobs.
It doesn't work like that.

Free higher education only breeds useless people with useless degrees they have no interest in.

75mil would've only been a 50-bed hospital. Maybe an average 100 bed hospital with the full 150mil.
>Its not cheap to build a hospital in the US.

I had it shitty, so everyone should. Nice attitude.

>You can easily start that trend by giving your money to other people
No, I can't. I'd have to have either a lot of money, power or influence and I don't have any of those.
>You don't need luxury items, instead spend your spare money on things that benefit society as a whole
I think people will always want luxuries, that'd be the main motivator for if a universal basic income did exist.
Everyone would have unfettered access and rights to a basic life and then work for luxuries like holidays or a nicer car.

A society where even the normies are PhD educated would be great, how is that any bad

>No one cares about English, faggot.

There you go, big fella.

Why would a sandwitch artist need a PhD?

highschool is free

To not have a society full of ignorant hicks? Economy is to serve us, not backwards.

University in the US is not the same as uni in Chile. In Chile, people think about their job prospects before going to college, and their family plays a big role towards choosing your major.
In the US people go to uni to "find themselves" and pick whatever major sounds cool.

Why do you presume that a person with a degree in mongolian basketweaving history is any less ignorant?

People with college degrees are more likely to have marketable skills. They’ll earn higher salaries & pay more in taxes. Free tuition is an investment in a labor force that makes more money than it costs.

A good idea.

Presumably, in a society with free higher education you'd have many more applications and therefore the freedom to raise admission standards.
As opposed to the current situation where you lower standards to attract more customers.

Free tuition for in-demand careers, and I'm in.

Grade inflation. Those with bachelor's degrees are not as well-versed in their subject material as graduates 50/100 years ago despite the increases in availability of information. What we have now are universities whose sole purpose is to extract as much money as possible from their clients/students. In the PhD future students will not be held to the same standards as today - they will be dropped even more to where PhD candidates are just as retarded as the bachelor students of today. This is already happening in the US and can be seen in Master's programs all over the country.

Ideally PhD's should only be for the best of the best, not everyone who wants one. IQ distributions are a thing.

Nothing is "free".

>People with college degrees are more likely to have marketable skills.
Which college degrees are you talking about?

Depends on the society. Blacks would use dorms as public housing. People would extend their college years waaaayyy past their time, while living a party lifestyle. Just don't see it working in the US.

Only for parents. If you don't want to contribute to society why should society contribute to you.

Just like right now in America? College graduates are at an all time high, surely they are earning higher salaries and paying more in taxes?

I think it'd be great. Universities love communism so much I bet they'd agree to work for free for the greater good.

Yeah US is kinda fucked and a big jewish scheme to trap kids in loans. Funny how american culture could transform even something like education as a consumer product

They are much more likely to be, how someone can go to college and not absorb a little bit of culture, hell, if you have a degree at least means you have some discipline

Unfortunately, you need money to run schools.

You will need extra taxes for that if you can't afford to run them without school fees.
Here the compulsory primary and secondary school education is heavily subsidized if you're a local(school fees still exist, just mostly subsidized via money from taxes and shit) and anything after that is only subsidized if you apply for the finanicial assistance schemes(which has criterias for you to qualify for, income per capita, housing, anyone on permanent hospital care, etc).

IQs have risen markedly despite since the 17th century. Society has, however, grown more complex. More education is needed to match the skills that are in demand now. Chemical engineering is more complex than planting seeds in soil.

Sauce?

>They are much more likely to be, how someone can go to college and not absorb a little bit of culture, hell, if you have a degree at least means you have some discipline
Again, think about *why* do you assume that.

We maybe should pay for things that we need a lot of, like plumbers, etc. but not fucking art history

True story. I think your comment to Mikael means that you don't see it clearly yet.
US universities are not what you think they are. A US degree is worth shit. Maybe we are used to a US degree bringing some polish, but the value of those degrees is going down quickly. #sendyourkidstospain

Schools will still get money, it just comes from the state through taxes instead of directly from students. By raising admission standards they will lose out on potential clients. Wouldn't it make more sense for the school to take in as many as they can, especially since their tuition is now 'free' meaning secured by the government? You can look at any public system to see how this would work out.

How long after we get "free" education will we also get 100% employment guarantee as well as universal basic income?

But the college/university would have the power to expel people like that?

Say it with me now:
Poor people do not deserve nice things.

No, education isn't for everybody. Look at half the people around you. They are retarded. They need to fix primary and secondary schools, and stop teaching shit like common core.

Attached: equality.png (1200x864, 1.4M)

Correct! Why not create more access? We need more people to do the jobs that are needed. Not suggesting that college is the only way, but many modern jobs that pay welll and are in demand require at least a college degree.

Answer my earlier post first, I'm not gonna make a point only for you to ignore whatever you can't answer.

Compare high school and university exams of 50 years ago to those of today. There are plenty available online. If you spent any time with students you would see how low the standards have become. High school graduates that can barely multiply, university students who can hardly write coherent papers. There are exceptions but the standard is low and falling all the time. Ask an English professor about it, or better yet volunteer to be a TA.

You are thinking like a Brit, which is to say...reasonably.
In supermarkets, there is sometimes a self-checkout line, right? They don't have self-checkout lines in bad neighborhoods.
Americans over-borrowed to buy shitty homes they don't need that were too big, causing the housing crisis.
Americans got shitty education that doesn't help them --> looming education crisis.
There is also a car-loan/lease crisis in the works.
Free education would be abused, just like unemployment benefits are abused, just like food stamps are abused.

>when education for everyone would be relatively cheap

You don`t have any idea what you are talking about.

The world needs ditch diggers and farm laborers too.

>GibsMeDat.jpg

Wrong

it would be affordable if we cut off foreign aid to everyone and ended our wars for Israel.

I thought our education system was bad,
Just because someone labels something as free, doesn't mean that it is.
The Government doesn't GIVE you free anything.
It takes money from other people and gives it to niggers that are too lazy to earn things for themselves.
I paid for my own higher education with loans and merit-based scholarships and sometimes working as many as three jobs at a time.
Now the fucking Government wants to use my taxes to pay for any low IQ Citizen or border-hopping criminal to take tranny studies or some equally useless degree for "free".
Suck butane.

Pointless. Giving everyone extra education is like giving everyone on earth an extra $10, the value becomes meaningless since everyone else has it. That and 'education' today means libtard brainwashing. Basically everything is online these teachers are basically obsolete.

Theres no reason for education to be expensive, tuitions are massively inflated because private unis. Fucking Cuba gives education to everyone with a GDP per capita much lower and you say the richest country in the planet cant? Its clear it will not happen because its a pretty good business to keep it as it is

You mean that everyone should pay for whatever benefits society as a whole? BEcause that runs contrary to all concepts of free will and personal responsibility. I don't want to pay for Jamal and his 12 bastards nor do i want anyone to pay for me. You will end up with a society where and increasingly small number of people pay an increasingly larger proportion of their income to subsidize the lives of everyone else.
Going to the gym, do me a favor and respond to so I can read it when I get back

thoughts on free energy?

I guess I'm an optimist, I believe the situation can be fixed.
Not everyone has to pursue higher education.
It's just that nobody would be financially denied the opportunity to get one.

>Cuba gives education to everyone
Cuba is a shithole

PhD student here. It's not really about having a high IQ or good grades, it's about work. Specifically, it's research output that gets you your degree. You can have all of the course requirements met and a flawless GPA, and it won't mean shit without a dissertation. I don't see that component of the degree ever going away.

Not an argument burger

Just raise the requirements and make it free to anyone who can enter

And yet they can do what you cant!

>And yet they can do what you cant!
Give everyone a shit tier education? We're trying.
