tate and territory governments have cut their budgets for private schools for the first time in at least 10 years, as Gonski funding deals begin to redirect spending towards needy public schools.
For the first time since 2012-13, total government spending on public school students grew faster than for their private school counterparts, according to a Productivity Commission analysis.
The amount spent on public schools by all governments increased 2.8 per cent in 2015-16, the second full year of the Gonski model, compared to 1.7 per cent for non-government schools.
Overall, expenditure on each public school student rose $203 to $17,275 in 2015-16, while total government expenditure on each private school student rose just $62 to $10,147.

Government can also found money for private schools. You don't seem to understand what private and public means. Private schools are schools for foreigners, public schools are schools for natives. It's not usual for private school to be for natives since they don't work based on government-city needs, they always want to expand profit to take foreigners. So it just happens to be that private schools in Australia are mainly for foreigners.

I went to a public school and it was like $150-300 per year back in 2000-2006.
A few of my cousins went to private schools and that was $5000-10000 per year.

It makes sense for the government to say any school will get X amount of dollars per student in funding.
