The idea of civil war has been floated in the media and online in the last few weeks but what is the realistic possibility of it occurring and how would it go down?
I see two major problems with the idea of civil war occurring in the near future:
(1) Slavery was able cleanly split the states into two factions because only the Southern states sanctioned slavery. Thus the Confederacy was an obvious option that unified contiguous states both culturally and regionally. I cannot think of a singular hotbed issue that is able to so cleanly cleave the nation in two along STATE lines.
(2) The first civil war was orchestrated by states in the sense that they had the full state governments coordinating them. The problem today is a rural vs urban divide, and the urban areas are entirely dependent on the food production of the rural areas and these differences are generally within states rather than between them. The lopsided economies of the factions would make any fighting more complex.
(3) Bonus, the urban areas are fags, basedboys, and niggers who everyone knows cannot fight.
The more likely scenario I foresee when the economy collapses big time in the near future would be (1) the gibs stop flowing (2) urban chimpout, (3) general dissolution and collapse of major cities, (4) rural areas hunker down with guns and are basically ok, (5) major anarchy mostly located in urban centers where minorities cannot flee and cannot feed themselves so they end up fighting each other and clashing with militarized police forces in cities. The whites pick up the pieces.

Pro-tip: In case of Civil War 2.0 start as many fires as you can. That includes forest and grass fires. Tie up what little resources are available to handle the blaze. The key is to start fires in places that will sweep through populated areas. All that is needed is a simple lighter or match.

The idea is to couple a major destabilization of the supply chain into urban centers with a focused attack on transportation infrastructure.
The first night will be a hit on power and water (both fresh and sewer). While the main stations will be a focus, no large force can be devoted to these attacks. Open fields of power lines cannot be uniformly defended. So when we hit the power lines, they will be cut in several places. Water will be more difficult as pumping stations will have to be infiltrated and physically demolished.
Once these resources are out of commission, 24-48 hours is all it will take for refrigeration to fail and food/waste buildup to make the residents uneasy. Thirst will drive them out into the streets.
Then we blow the highways around the perimeter of the cities. Every overpass becomes a concrete barricade. No supply in or out. Main highways leading to urban centers will be mined. Any attempt to resupply will be met with an ambush, and the supplies will be redirected to Rural Depots.
When the national guard come, we will lure them into the city by attacking civilians... when they rush into the crowded and cluttered streets we will box them in and cut them down.
We will move fast, strike hard, dig deep, and always keep making them guess where we are coming from...
Urban skirmishes will escalate until federal and nationalist forces become involved, then we will be forced to retreat to outside the city perimeter and mount a tactical retreat.

My pet theory is actually that a government takeover of Mexico by cartels will trigger an inevitable follow on turf war for California and Texas. Once Cartels officially control the mexico side of the border, they could get it into their heads that they can influence American politics in these soft border states by buying politicians, and corrupting local police forces.
The likeliest place for a new civil war to happen is the American south-west. No politicians give two shits about this area except for certain coastal cities in CA. Events like the Bundy ranch standoff indicate that the population is not only willing to defy federal authority, but capable of doing it. Its vast rural deserts and wastes make for a difficult terrain for a government to fight a war over, and while important trade routes cross it, its doubtful that east coasters would notice a localized conflict.
If a state like California clearly is taken over by foreign interests, and begins to export that crime and control over the country Its possible that her neighbors might take direct action if attempts to settle the issues fail at the federal level. There are two interesting unresolved questions in the constitution. 1) Can states secede? The answer to this question now seems to be no. 2) Can the government kick a state out of the union? That question is more important to resolve, but no one has seen the need to ask it yet. That need is coming sooner rather than later.

We are already seeing some states ignore federal laws. Here if fagifornia they passed 3 laws making it ILLEGAL to help or enforce federal immigration law. It's currently in the courts (the 9th circuit) but what if they lose and then ignore the court ruling?
It might be more "asymmetrical" than the last civil war with Democratic strongholds challenging the federal government in thousands of little ways. It COULD be the other way with Republican strongholds ignoring federal laws as well.

well, right now CA's problem is an internal displacement issue as middle class huwhites are pushed out of even the exurbs due to high taxes and cost of living. What is considered a livable wage in over 80% of the country is considered brokeass poor in CA. Its crazy to drive into LA. About 2 hours from city center you hit Palm Springs. This is a distance of 107 miles. People do this because a modest 2 bdr house costs 40 - 60k, compared to LA where they start at 1/3 of a million dollars. You need to be making minimum of 80-100k annual household income to afford that mortgage.
This is the great divide of America. Americans are taxed federally at virtually the same rate from 40k - 100k a year (anyone who makes less than 40K a year is officially poor trash anywhere in America). but that's a huge spread. Its a major tax hit to the guys making 40k a year and when you add on state property and other taxes you're starting to see a 'hollow area' in CA's economy where if you're making 40-60k a year you don't qualify for govt services, and you choose to either be poor trash again, get rich, or leave the state. Thing is that 40-60k a year is entry and mid level wages for moderately skilled labor like IT services, civil servant jobs, and unskilled manufacturing/construction. Notice that all of these things are in short supply in the state. H1B slaves are imported to stop the gap on IT jobs, and illegal slaves are brought in to stopgap unskilled labor shortages, but civil servant jobs are much harder to fill. This is why CA's bureaucracy is failing. They can't keep the vacancy rate down. The average vacancy rate for a civil servant job in CA is ~13.5% so roughly 1/6 seats are empty. That's a serious staffing issue! This continuous pressure in CA pushing down on the middle class will continue the biggest problem CA has: income inequality.
