Why is support for Israel a right-wing position and opposition to Israel a left-wing position?

Normie Christians love Israel is my understanding for the right. The left just loves seeing everything as a power dynamic and defending what they consider to be a victim. I always found it strange how my non-jewish baptist christian father would get so animated when talking about Israel. His eyes would light up and he'd ramble on violent rhetoric on par with his feelings right after 9/11 for the middle east. Never could get him to explain his passion for it besides making references to biblical history.

Because Israel is seen as the oppressor and the Palestinians are seen as the victim. The left opposes any perceived oppressor, while the right which is usually tied to religion and tradition, supports any group that the culture dictates needs supporting. American Christians believe that God says that Christians must support Israel.

This is true even in Europe without explicit religious motivation.
Israel is percieved as reasonably succesfull and close to europe, so when liberals attack it the right wing will see this as confirmation that isreal is on their side.

Because the truth is that even though being right-wing might be correct, the vast majority of right-wingers are brainlets who are right-wing for the wrong reasons which includes most of Jow Forums.
