I had no power for just three stinking days because of this and I rally wish I had prepped more. After just three days I was almost ready to leave my house because I had no food or water. If my basement wasn't nice and cool I would have left.
3 weeks without power is no apocalypse. In fact I went 2 weeks without power or water after hurricane Hugo. It was actually exciting and kind of fun as a kid

Bug in got a butane stove and gas grill. Generator in the garage to keep the fridge going. I have plenty of batteries and 2 ryobi fans that run off the tools batteries. I have 12 fully charged.
Bug out is also an option my cabin I can get to with half a tank of gas and I always have more than half a tank in my car.

Yeah, and I live in civilization where, when the power goes out, it comes back on a second till at most 30 minutes later. You see we don't have just one power planet, we have a network, and every major city is connected to at least two or three of them.

That's not how power plants work. If enough go down or the grid gets damaged they'll split the grids and leave large portions if not all in the dark. Not many sites even have black start capabilities so a dead bus is bad juju.

I've got enough medical supplies to last 3 weeks. In fact, I've actually got some trauma items coming in the mail soon. My place isn't that big, so I don't have room to store loads of water, but I have plenty of filtration available. Of course the first thing you do in a situation like this is fill up the bath tub. Food would be the biggest issue. I've got a good deal of canned goods but again not a whole lot of room. Granted, I live very close to a river so realistically I could do some fishing.

Plenty to do without power. I'd probably spend some time reading. I've got a couple thousand books loaded onto my e-reader, which should easily keep me occupied. I've got a portable solar panel to keep stuff like my e-reader, phone, and rechargeable batteries going indefinitely. That's important because it means I can juice up my flashlight and my arc lighter, since both are rechargeable.
