i work at a successful tech company and had a few coworkers head over to netflix 3-5 years ago.

their model is extremely basic in that they use adverting and free trials to lock in consumers and hope that people either like the service or forget to cancel. their CAC customer acquistion costs are much lower than their CLTV customer life time value so they can scale to infinity

for exaple their next growth market is india where they have less than 1M customers with a potential to 50-100x that and then drive up subscription costs as the Pajeet consumer purchasing power increases

B2C business to consumer is a cool space but the competition is really intense for netflix. for example apple and amazon are much better businesses that can operate at an even greater leveraged loss model than Netflix is currently utilizing to increase its 'library'
