A while back I wrote a huge thing about tattoos being generate. Guess I'll post if here and see what you anons think

They have the exact same vision though. This means they chose to be the way they are.

Modern tattoo culture is 100% degenerate, and here's why:

First, we need to understand what getting a tattoo actually entails. Someone having a tattoo means that the person made the conscious decision to pay a decent sum of money to have the process done. This process, in simple terms, consists of wounding the skin with a pen tool to inject ink deep into it. This is why getting a tattoo is painful, and it's why after getting one, there's a period of time in which it should not be touched. It's literally a wound on the skin, with scabs and all. And the scar left is permanent - even if the ink is later removed by an expensive and even more painful laser procedure, the damage is done. The body is engraved with a mark that will be there until the day it becomes dust. This is why Christianity condems body modifications. Damaging one's own body like this shows a lack of self-love and respect for the body that one was given. (So Christians who get tattoos - especially religious ones - have some serious cognitive dissonance going on.) This lack of love for the person's body actually fits in with a historical use of tattoos: to mark slaves and prisoners.

Something else that must be pointed out about tattoos is their purpose - drawing attention. The human body's natural state does not include tattoos, so, as long as the tattoo is not covered by clothing, the engraving done on the body will inevitably draw attention to itself. No one gets a tattoo for the purpose of hiding it at all times. And depending on the size and location of the tattoo, its how much the owner wants it to be seen. There's a very big difference between a small tattoo on one's back, to a fully-tattooed arm - the former is most likely meant to be shown off only occassionally to a few people, while the latter is meant to be seen by literally everyone the person meets.

Now, even with all of the above, some merit can still be found in someone's tattoo, if what they have engraved on their body has some geniune meaning to the person, such as expressing a major life accomplishment or a deep passion. Though this kind of tattoos can also fall into the "seeking attention" category, especially if they're large or colorful.

...Of course, the vast majority of tattoos people get do not fall under the above category. Instead, most tattoos fall under these three categories:

1. Tattoos indicating affiliation to a group. - This has been a use tattoos have been given many times throughout history. Criminal gangs, cults, and other groups have, and continue to use them to identify members. Now, everyone knows tattoos are not exclusive to people who belong to such groups. But regardless of this, the claim that "tattoos are what delinquents have" does have some factual and historical basis to it.

2. Completely random designs or phrases with no real meaning behind them. - These types of tattoos, unlike the two already mentioned, have no real connection to the person's identity. Anyone can get "Life goes on" tattooed on their chest and say it inspires them, or get a picture of a cougar on their arm and say it symbolizes strength. Nearly everyone with one of these got it for the sake of attention and standing out from the crowd. When asked about the reasoning/meaning behind one of these, normies will very often outright admit they got them just because it looked "cool", or instead attribute some abstract/mundane meaning as a justification for having it.

A subset of these kinds of tattoos are the ones related to pop culture or some other current trend that will inevitably pass. Here's where all the Bart Simpson or Pickle Rick tattoos fall into. People with these tattoos got them simply because at the time they thought it was "trendy" or "all the buzz". Problem is, those tattoos won't be "cool" 50 years from now, when they're old and retired, with a fucking Bart Simpson tattoo on their right leg. That is, if they don't eventually regret getting them and have them removed, leaving a scar in the shape of the tattoo behind.

3. Artsy tattoos. These are designs (often large and complex) that while they do have artistic merit, they also scream for attention, and will inevitably look terrible 20 years from now.

An obvious problem with tattoos is their location. ANY tattoo that's near private areas is degenerate by default. As stated above, the purpose of tattoos is to draw attention. So if someone gets a tattoo on their lower area, it's to draw attention there. The "women with tramp stamps are whores" thing is a stereotype, but it wouldn't exist if it wasn't at least based on some kernel of truth. And I'm sure I don't have to comment on face tattoos, and what employment problems they bring.

Tattoos are more common in teens and young adults as they're very often a way of misbehaving/rebelling against authority. But beyond the age groups, another reason tattoos have exploded in recent years is because mainstream society (especially celebrity culture) has taken a turn to favor individualism, and what better way to express how "unique" and "special" you are than to have a tattoo?

Another problem with tattoos is that they seem to be addictive to an extent. Usually, you'll see someone get their first tattoo after thinking about it for a while, but within a year or two, they'll be getting more and more tattoos just because they felt like it - for the sake of getting inked. This isn't exactly the norm, but it's quite common. Why? My theory for this is that repeated tattooing is like social media: it creates an addiction for attention.

Ultimately, the reasons that cause a lot of people find tattoos unappealing is that they basically always signal a lack of self-respect and a thirst for attention due to the reasons stated above. They also often signal impulsiveness, poor decision-making skills, a lack of forethought, or even low self-esteem.

Bet they paid a hefty sum for it without wondering if they won't regret their decision or find it cringeworthy within a year, or if the tattoo will even be relevant anymore. Got tattoos on visible places (such as hands, face and neck)? What happens if/when you're rejected in job applications because of it? Presentation and looking professional are still important in the real world, and you never know where and who you might be asking for a position. Have an obscene/controversial/edgy tattoo? What if that turns other people away? You can't predict others' reactions, and some will not find it funny or acceptable. Next - if someone has a really big and flashy tattoo, or multiple tattoos, it can very well mean they use them to stand out; either because they're narcissists who want to show off, or because they insecure and don't feel special enough. Once again, a tattoo's main objective is to draw attention, and if the tattooed areas are impossible to ignore, then the person stands out through them. In the case of a man, and depending on the design, a tattoo could be an attempt to make himself look tougher, as tattoos are still often seen as a "biker gang" item. But unlike a battle scar, a tattoo is voluntary, so it won't have the same effect. It'll come across as trying too hard to look tough.

Something I didn't know until I researched what I wrote above, is that apparently in the case of women, tattoos can be a coping mechanism. In a study, women with 4+ tattoos reported higher self-esteem than women with less or none, but also declared a larger amount of past emotional turmoil and suicide attempts. So I suppose tattoos can also be a sign that a girl's unstable.
