I don't really think that we are close to the break out of a race/class war, though you could argue there is already a religion war happening in middle east, i do not think this will affect us too much (continued terrorism in europe will become normal in some areas, just as it is normal for us in the south).

What I was trying to say is that I think the old commie/christian dicotomy is being rewritten into an //ourguy// versus ((globalist)) difference. I think you see this across the west right now, where countries and politicians signal to one or the other group (nationalists versus internationalists). I think immigration is the biggest issue of politics as a proxy for this, and is not always tied to same kind of racism as is accused in america (see how brits hate poles too for example), but more just nationalist versus internationalist policies in all spheres, including trade and economy. I think Russia is still in evil west trying to crush us mode, but will eventuallly adopt more and more of this rhetoric. we must only be careful that it does not end up too xenophobic because of our near abroad, so the government hesitates from this line for now imo, because it does not know how to portray itself as nationalist as opposed to internationalist without giving up its old imperial interests. once it figures out how to synthesize these interests, i think the rhetoric with us will change a lot to resemble more western stuff

Yes, this is far into the future for sure, but i think this trend is developing in the West and that eventually we will follow it. I think that the government will try to synthesize these interests in some way, because our natural position is on the "nationalist" side of this divide, but we are not actually a nationalist state. It would be much simplier if the other republics had not left at end of ussr, as it is I admit it would be very strange and must either involve dropping those "brotherly republics" or somehow integrating them more into our state so they can be part of a shared "nationalist" picture.

If we were to become a Russian nationalist state I have no idea who could possibly lead it. I dont think Putin would hand off to a successor with such ideas, so it is unlikely. I consider it much more likely that more efforts will be made to further solidify/legalize our role in the SNG and try to recreate a shared nationalism. I do not know if it will work, though, but this is what the government would try first. Certainly what Putin would try at least, but I think he does not even want to try, and he clings hard to those old paradigms of commie/free world that you referred to in OP, because they are much safer. We will not move away from this rhetoric under him, I think.

I believe sponsoring all those countries is not an option (do you agree?) anymore, that's part of what brought down USSR. It's very important not to promote full autonomy (which will turn any country into shithole) along with any sort of self-respect. Promising but that seems really hard to pull off but on US example we see that Trump could reach all sorts of people with different background, IQ and so on.
