Stop wanting autocracy.
Stop wanting autocracy
need>want
Oberstein get the fuck out
looks like tr
>lost to an alcoholic and his semicircles
lmao
Is there any anime that can even come CLOSE to competing with ginga eiyuu densetsu?
As if he would've supported Hillary
The whole shows basically demonstrates that only autocracy led by a great man works, while fake democracy will always lead to incompetent and greedy leaders doing retarded shit and destroying their country.
Who is she talking about lads?
>there are people on /po/ that have not watched Legend of the Galactic heroes
democracy is just autocracy with extra steps
They might prefer GitS
>there are people on /po/ that watch cartoons
logh is /ourcartoon/ though
Degeneracy is degeneracy you fucking faggot.
You're a grown man that watches cartoons, stop projecting so hard, it's pathetic.
You're the one getting butthurt over someone else allegedly watching cartoons.
>it's bad just because it's animated
Stop enforcing Globalism
Nothing wrong with calling manchildren out
watch it and you will understand
If only you had listened...
all I know about this anime is that it is the source for many memes, and that it has brutally violent battle scenes.
brutal but extremely tactical in nature
>extremely tactical in nature
semicircles beat triangles
triangles beat squares
3rd dimension is barely used
It's not all that mature of you either to paint everything with the same brush. It's like saying that you shouldn't read books because winnie the pooh exists.
...
you're on a hentai website complaining about anime degeneracy
No one cares.
good digits
they have laser blasters but still have axe fights
This. Its much better and I think is more realistic.
if you just need to puncture armor to cause a suit rupture it can be absolutely lethal. If you lose atmosphere you better patch up or take the other guy too.
>that pic
That was explained by the magnetised armour.
But then if kinetic energy works on them they should just use kinetic weapons, like normal guns
don't most of the time the axe fights take place in pressurized rooms?
they use the 3rd dimension later on in the show, even some stuff that was never used or mentioned before, like some huge plasma/kinetic charge or whatever it was that one shots ship in close range. they play it off as it was normal and known, but was the first time used and that 90 or so eps in. so as technology advanced in the late 90's they tried to make the battles more believable and had the resources to do so, the only reason for most battles to be 2d was really money and animation technology at the time for such a huge project, as i also remember that in the novels 3d was used way before that.
>he will never look at you the way he looks at kircheis
you both seem to forget that the axes were mostly used because of that gas that they filled the rooms with, which would explode if someone fires a shot. so the technological advancement made melee combat needed again. and yes, the armor was ofc designed to stop "small caliber" laser rifles, would get pierced by heavier stuff or on weak spots tho, if not for the gas to force melee.
Not all anime is created equal
You reek of brand new dont belong here
gas = zephyr particles, my bad
Anything by a great man is the only time anything works
Is looking at a painting childish? Could it only be considered childish when animated at 60 fps?
There was one battle earlier, like around 30 ep when Yang used 3rd dimension like it was a secret weapon, but it's rarely used
>you both seem to forget that the axes were mostly used because of that gas that they filled the rooms with
Sometimes yea, but other times like pic related, they just used axes because, armour I would guess
The series does kind of touch upon that. It's not just some story of a flawless empire steamrolling a stupid republic.
Threadly reminder
>there are Americans on Jow Forums at 3AM that don't like anime
all the Characters in this show are awesome
Thats when you direct laser artillery fire to your bulk head and hope for the best.
...
Here's the viewing order if anyone wants to get into the series.
yeah sometimes it is because of the armor, the normal people on the spaceships didn't have such armor, so there they always simply shot them. your pic related was pretty much the melee master anyway and part of a elite stormtrooper unit, they always had the heavy armor to force melee when raiding ships. but yeah, sometimes battles or fights are silly and you wonder why nobody tried some tactics yang used before. i guess the best explanation is that yang studied history and nobody else apparently did, to know of very old tactics - which sounds stupid as well, for what do they go to the military academy then.
Fuck off retard. I knew as soon as I start watching this show this guy was a retard. You don't get it.
>you will never marry a talented and cute girl who fell in love with you years ago while she was still a loli
Why even live?
Theyre only here for the 30yo boomer memes
He was definitely not retard sadly his government was
Both governments were bad, but some things he said made me realize he didn't understand why.
The weapon and armor balance is easily explained by future tech armor being proof against lasers, so it never bothered me even if it is just an excuse to have some cool melees.
The lack of knowledge at the military academy seems strange at first, but makes sense when you realize that this is a sci-fied take on stuff based on our actual history. The fleet formation combat is portrayed tactically similar to 1800's warfare.
If you look into 1700s through WW1, you'll find that a lot of battles/conflicts were decided by tactical knowledge, and it was a big problem when the leaders had spent their school days chasing tail, or were attending institutions that had culturally rotted. The epitome of this effect being seen in WW1 with major decisions being made by officers that never visited the battlefield and didn't understand just what machine guns and modern artillery were. So they kept issuing bayonets even when the men were rationing bullets.

what do you mean, he clearly knew why, he even said it himself
>if democracy fails, it is the fault of the people
and he is right with that. he simply just could not bring himself to abandon his values and view of democracy, as he would need to go full autocracy to lead them. he knew that it was silly and wrong to go with this till the end, but he just couldn't betray himself.
The problem is it’s very hard to make sure it’s a great man, or even an ok man leading your nation.
...you should know, you’re a Republic because Louis VX was an awful monarch
At least show the first season, not the shit second one.
kys immediately yfucking redditor
a lot can be forgiven by the law of cool
The military academy thing is something different.
They portray it as education being so incredibely expensive, almost noone can afford it without military service. So actually only a small minority is there to be a career officer, most want to learn something else and are in navy/army just for free education.
Meanwhile imperium has officers being there because of nepotism, so unless you are a natural talent like Yang or Reinhards cadets they would be pretty much retarded for some time.
This does not explain why those surviving do not get better at their jobs simply by experience.
say it ain't so
well yeah ofc it was a sci fi take at that, but that still means lack of 3d tactics is odd in an open space battle.personally i don't really mind it, as i love the series and rewatched it many times, but ofc people will point that one out. i also already mentioned that the armor is proof against most small caliber lasers, so we agree there.
I fucking hate obestein. You can trace all the problems back to him. Fuckin faggot.
lol the second was the only good one, first is trash
then hereditary autocracy is the fault, not autocracy as a whole
everything would be swell if reinhard achieved his goal, then made a constitutional republic
Fuck off if you don't consider this art. This show is redpilled, and made by people with big heads.
>You can trace all the problems back to him
i guess you could argue that 3d tactics would be hard to control for such vast fleets and same can be said for fancy tactics, so that most go with the simple and tried tactics to earn an victory. if i remember correctly the communication between fleets was also jammed mid battle, so sending your orders with a small craft to a fleet under or above the enemy one might be harder to do than just beside you, as even pincers were rare. this all comes together when you consider your point for retarded officers that have no idea what they are doing and are just there for prestige.
The empire was vastly superior to the free planets alliance in nearly every way.
genetically disabled people should be neutered.
wrong
Not that cartoon
It is.
I love how she looks with the new art style.
And I will never have her.
Cut my life into pieces.
tfw no admiral's daughter gf
I'd wager that a lot of it is simply that the story was originally a book series, and probably didn't want to get bogged down in the long, detailed descriptions necessary to explain true space-level tactics. Its all kept to 2D stuff that people would already be familiar with and able to visualize. The device of 3D tactics occasionally being used by Yang being portrayed as genius is because the reader is primed to think in 2D, so it'll seem a surprise.
Also they were written in the 80's. We're all used to 3D space tactics now, but people probably weren't then.
Rather than him thinking it to be silly and wrong, he had some other justifications. I can't remember quite what it was, but he said something about wanting his country to die as a democracy, rather than morph into something else to survive. Because then you're betraying what the country was founded on in the first place.
That and, not only did he not want to be an autocrat, but he didn't want to be a politician, either. He never wanted to be a soldier. He's just a tired history guy.
fuck it im dumping my webms
>he still didn't get that oberstein made himself hated and the focus of that hatred, so that nobody would do so to reinhard and see him without faults
but constitutional republic would in the future lead to problems simmilar to republic
Just like ecelctive autoracy in the end transfers power to people who elect the autorcat
At the begining it seems Reinhard does not want another dynasty, he just wants the "best one" to fight out power from him
The one able to rule, should rule, sort of rule of the strongest mentality.
It resembles roman empire to me. Bloated republic leads to Ceasar, that leads to weak emperors.
There is no long term solutions
>i guess you could argue that 3d tactics would be hard to control for such vast fleets
Also the sheer size of their fleets means their formations are 3rd dimensionally wide. I would vager that their formations are thousands of kilometers vide and tall.
But then when someone uses several fleets on diferent planes it's super effective to the point it seems like cheating.
Siegfried died directly because of his jealousy. They would have crushed yang if it wast for that one action. There were several other things he chose not to act on as well. He was a fucking snake.
Autocracy is modeled after human consciousness. One person in a body, controlling everything around them. Humans live in this manner and our hardwiring disallows us to separate from the idea of a figurehead. Autocracy will never go away, whether it's absolute power or a facade feat. useful puppet
I imagine you’d communicate like navies did in the past, visually with flags
Firstly I haven’t seen this show so referring to it to make a point is futile.
Secondly, it’s no sepecific to hereditary autocracy, Rome has the same issue with their emperors. In fact established hereditary autocracy has a lot of benefits over other kinds (largely national security and reliability), assuming they aren’t born deformed.
My point is regardless whether it’s hereditary or elected, bad leaders slip through the cracks and in one reign can ruin everything. I personally think a mix between democracy and autocracy is best, and with the democracy right to vote needing to being earned for more important things
i think it's more that it's always thousands if not tens of thousands of ships under one formation
if you watch it again there are countless rows of ships layered vertically, it's probably hard to make a 3d formation
>stop adhering to dominance hierarchies
you're trying to battle something that's older than the concept of species
ahh, the tactical genius of Bittenfeld
>But then when someone uses several fleets on diferent planes it's super effective to the point it seems like cheating.
true to that, when they get caught from behind they already fall like flies, the horror when they get hit form below or above was easy to see later on and how effective it was. and yes their fleets were already large and stretched out into a 3d plane, that they always did show quite nicely. so simply smashing them head on into each other and betting on your numerical superiority seems to be the easiest approach for this, as fancy stuff is hard to manage and they always tried to do so at the start and later again when given the upper hand.
