It never was a purposed genocide. Germans had constant problems with guerilla slavs. It was the same crimes Americans did back in Vietnam - execution of farmers who supported guerilla forces, burning down villages used by guerilla forces as bases etc. It was brutal, even criminal, but guerilla, especially the Belarus and Russian groups, were extremely brutal toward Germans as well, so it was kinda a result of escalated hostility.

Well in slovenia, nazis swiftly got to first deporting civilians to Serbia, (to make place for german people), and when people rebelled, as anyone would, they started with reprisals. Displacing people from their native land and sendig them to fuck nowhere is sure sign of great love and respect. While they didn't resorted to outright cleansing at first, as it would be impractical; their actions speaked volumes. They were more than happy to except any provocation into executions and arson. When we started liberating the area around Moscow, we had to make haste to rescue the civilians. It turns out the day before the Germans learned that children were bringing bread to the partisan guerrillas, they brought all the young and teachers into the village schoolhouse - all in all about one thousand people, locked them in and set the building on fire. Whoever tried to run they shot and threw back into the fire. Her whole family burned alive in that school, her children and grandchildren. All the babies and small children the Germans threw into a well. We rushed to the school, hoping to find any survivors, but we were late. We started pulling the remains out of the ashes. The boys carefully passed children’s bodies along the human chain and we put them neatly in a row along the road. We pulled out more than thirty children then.
