It's a very conservative area with an economy based on agriculture and the oilfield. I only lock my house when we are sleeping and know all my neighbors well. Everyone is proficient in firearms, including the women.

Pretty bad this year, honestly. Wasn't really enough rain for a good wheat harvest. There's been just about enough to keep the pastures green for the cattle, so that's been okay. Hopefully the corn and beans do better, but you and I both know it's in the good Lord's hands.

It's very white, and I love it. Don't ever have to lock my car or house. The shop I work at doesn't even lock the cash drawer; it's literally just a tray in a regular drawer on the counter. Our neighbors have a bonfire cookout every weekend. Every man, woman, and child can shoot straight. Most all of the people would bend over backwards to help a good neighbor. Conversely, the white trash meth heads are universally reviled.
My little Czech-blooded fiancée just turned 21 a short while ago. We got her a little handgun and went out shooting the next day. The county fair starts in a week or two, and she and I will be running a small crafts booth selling handmade jewelry and buttons to the folks around.
