It's been a while since I've seen this movie, but when I think back to it, all I can take away is something along the lines of: "Everyone's life sucks, so just stay in line and let it suck, because you aren't special."

If that's the message, that's bullshit, and it gives way to problems that will only grow larger in size over the course of time. We should be striving collectively as a species for a world where our only problem is living out a long life, and dying in peace. Not falling victims to one another, bottling up emotions, becoming more and more resentful, until we snap.

Having said that, I still think it's an entertaining watch and pretty hilarious.

I saw it as a kid and it really stayed with me

It's actually pretty good and redpilled as far as (((hollywood))) films go

"Rebellious" (kosher) character for boomers to identify with.
Not a very good film, politics aside.

It was a good movie. That character was more likable than the guy from Taxi Driver, I think.

That quasi-attempted rape scene always cracks me up--it's so over the top it has to be on purpose.

That whole part of the movie could have not been included and served little purpose. I liked the story.

Film is just describing the effects of stress, delusion after heavy loss which is incredibly common and how little things can spiral into larger problems. The whole nazi part is meant to portray that the character isn't a moral renegade. That with all his anger and the killing of the spic gang members, his problems lie with mundanity and pointless bullshit caused by other people.
