I'm agnostic (not in the meme way) and I think it's been a net positive in terms of ethics and the way early humans got to be motivated to become more conscious.

Hard to say. Religion is just a natural part of how our minds evolved to work. It's almost a physical part of us. Religion is humanity and humanity is religion, you can't seperate it and lay blame on it.
That said, some specific religions are objectively bad like most sects of Islam, Ethno-Judiasm and Satanism.
