That's not true. Our own ancestors didn't even believe that and they left Europe so as not to be persecuted for our faith. Free will was never a thing with them, only choose as what the Bible says. Yes is does. You are only ever going to end up where you end up because of who you are. Whatever you do, is done because it is who you are. It is not a choice if you can't help it. Biology dictates your actions. "Free will is the ability to make choices according to your desire.", but your desires are built into you, it is Biological. Actions always leads to consequences, that consequence of your biological desires which you act on (lack of free will) is your predestination.

We are not God's automatons.
We are spirits created by God.
We have the ability to discover and create things in this playground devised by God.

We are God's creation, made to serve him. Those who don't, are not deviant out of their own "free will" but because God made them that way so as to show and remind us what fruits our service bears. We have a good fulfilling life because we live our lives according to his command.

Not all of us "discover and create things". A few do. That is Gods will. He made them that way. Some go by live without ever achieving much, but still live their lives according to God. Those who don't serve God, who do "what they want according to their own desires" (who God made that way, no free will) don't get anywhere in life. Their lives have no meaning, they aren't fulfilled and thereby never happy. They are to serve as reminder why we do serve God. They can't help but act on biological impulses because they are incapable of conceiving consequences.

Despite what most people say, he wasn't a horrible strategist and some of his calls make sense when put into context. The reason we think of Hitler as a coked up maniac ruining the Wehrmacht's success is because his generals survived him and blamed all their failures on him because a dead guy who is universally hated can't defend himself.

2 examples,
1. the reason to not go for moscow and to go for the caucuses is because the soviets wouldn't have just capitulated once moscow was captured, so it's capture while important isn't as important as the oil in the caucuses which was desperately needed.

2. the fight to the last man order is because on the eastern front, there were several instances of generals pulling back and retreating, leaving the slower infantry of an army on their flank exposed only to be surrounded and destroyed by the soviets.
