I don't think so. I think the goal of society has historically been until recently to impose a social hierarchy and to let everyone know of their place and standing in society. We are seeing a return towards that now in the West, however it isn't being done right. I believe that the traditional social hierarchy consists of different "classes", ranging from farmers (the peasantry) to burghers to nobles to royals to the representatives of whatever religion that state has imposed. There's also the army which sometimes is not separated from the peasantry and the nobility, but sometimes is. If the purpose of equality is to make everyone an equal (which is biologically impossible, but maybe economically it isn't), then you need to make everyone part of the same class, and that is not very viable. No state has ever done it, and with good reason. You'd have to abolish all sorts of private business and impose total governmental control on income in order to truly equalize people economically. But even then you end up with some sort of ruling class that ends up being superior to the rest of the population and equality is once again impossible. So what if you abolish the state? Then the strongest will thrive and rebuild a new state through conquest, imposing themselves as rulers and equality is once again null. Do you see the problem now?

Subjugation and differentiation into different classes has always been a part of society. Because some people are less useful than done others. However, that doesn't mean that the inferior parts of society are useless. Given proper education, training and opportunity, I think that even a third worlder can make something of himself. There is no need for the traditional system if you can raise the lower class to acquire the same skills as the upper class. This is what I mean by "equality". A system where everyone can work according to his natural abilities.

I think with a traditional system you waste the potential of the lower class. Administration is a lot easier though, that's true.

No, I never said that they were useless. Quite the opposite. Under such a system everyone makes the best use of their respective skills. The farmer farms, the noble and the royal rule, the merchant guilds handle trade and the priest classes handle morality and religious tradition. A lot of this also comes from IQ, which cannot be substantially increased over even multiple generations of Western education, see American blacks for example. Not to mention that most would argue that Western education has vastly improved since the Victorian era, but average IQ has actually declined all over the West.
And I'm not against educating the poor, I simply don't think they should have any say in the affairs of state. Same with the middle class, for the most part. Only those that are born in rich aristocratic or royal families which have very high IQ and are raised from their birth to be the best possible lords and kings should rule.
