I'm watching the specific video I was referring to again and I'll concede it wasn't literal - her exact statement used the term "ostracized" but in a context a lot of people took for that intent.

Well we don't know any of those kids personally so it's no use making further assumptions. I'm not referring to those "gay theater kids" specifically here, who knows how widespread or how big of a problem it was. These are our assumptions and opinions.

To clarify, I'm not identifying with Cruz - you forfeit being a victim when you make that choice to try to exact revenge - I consider myself biased because I had that experience growing up, but that's in the past and things have changed. There's nothing wrong with having disagreements, prejudices, thinking the other guy is weird, but keep that shit to yourself.
It can get messy when you start actively preying on other people - It has nothing to do with personal circumstances like you're implying. A person can only take so much shit before they decide they're done and lash out violently, which I came damn close to doing myself back then, which is why incidents like these make my blood boil.

But then again, at the moment, I know more about these random kids in the spotlight than I do about Cruz; So I've got some research to do myself, to know if my assumptions on the topic here are justified.

I will also add for posterity that my mental state back then with wanting to actually murder some of my peers, wasn't brought on by some petty disagreement or failure, or any one incident - It was systematic, persistent, unrelenting harassment, judgement, exclusion, physical and mental abuse through the course of 12 years in and out of school that brought me to my knees, borderline suicidal and blood crazed, at my worst, that got me to that mental and emotional state - deconstructing and peeling back my mind layer by layer, just totally eating at me until we graduated, I got the fuck out, and started taking care of myself.

This wasn't over some girlfriend or petty rejection, it was just slow burning, methodical, mental torture.

The amazing thing is that it all changed practically overnight after getting out of high-school then.
