This whole incident had multiple moments where it could have been defused and de-escalated, on both sides.
For starters, they obviously shouldn't have parked in a handicap spot. That's disrespectful, and there were other spots available. The man should not have confronted them about parking in the handicap spot either, it's wrong sure, but he could have been nice about it and explained that other people need that spot because they are disabled instead of coming close to her drivers side and pointing fingers. He may have been agitated, and it can be difficult to have that kind of awareness when you are. The man exiting the store should NOT have pushed him down right away, he should have asked what was wrong and assessed the situation better. The man pointing his finger at his woman could have been a threat, so I can understand him being defensive, but the way he handled it, especially pushing someone down in front of your 5 year old son, (what a way to demonstrate good behavior) was drastic and aggressive. The man after being pushed over should have assessed the situation and whether the threat was on his life or if he was just assaulted. That said, he may have been disoriented and he's 47 years old and may not be in the fittest condition, a fall like that can kill a person. Frightened and stunned, perhaps shocked, he see's a 28 year old man standing over him. From the camera footage it could be argued that McGlockton had no intention of attacking him further, but with how close he was he could have closed the distance and attacked further. Drejka shoots him once center mass to end the threat. That sure seems like a fuck off shot to me. The fact that he pacified his threat in one shot is quite impressive, and is a text book case of self defense shooting.
It is heartbreaking that three children now have a single mother, and a 5 year old witnessed his own fathers death. But this could have been avoided if the father hadn't IMMEDIATELY resorted to violence.

This is where I disagree with you. Everyone that parks in handicapped spots has some excuse for it, but it's extremely inconvenient for handicapped people to be denied their spot by an able-bodied person because that able-bodied person was feeling lazy. I don't know much about this case, and I don't know if the shooter hand handicap tags or whatever, but he had every right to talk to the lady and ask her to move. I don't know what words were exchanged, but he had every right to tell her to move her car if she didn't have the right tags or whatever to park there. People tend to keep doing shit so long as they think they'll get away with it. I'm sure they've parked in handicapped spots before this time, it's just no one bothered to bitch at them not to do it.
