Back when I was 11 years old and still knew nothing about how the world worked, someone whose name is forgotten to time told me that democracy wasn't a perfect system. They said people just aren't capable of wielding the power of their vote responsibly. The first example they gave me was how it's possible for our elections to become a popularity contest where merit is irrelevant. A contest where we base them on their personality and charisma, rather than their merit, skills, or experience.

"Obama got the ball rolling. This guy is going to shove it over the cliff."

Victory. I knew he would be President at some point back in the 90’s.

I honestly didn't think he stood a snowballs chance in hell.

I'm more than glad I was wrong.

I remember thinking, yeah, this could work and if it doesn't, it'll be funny as all hell.

I honestly thought that Rubio and Cruz would be more likely to win as a ticket, due to the Latino vote switching for Latino GOP candidates. I bought a Trump hat as a joke. But then I liked his positions on basically everything and realized it wasn't a publicity stunt.

I thought it was nothing more than a publicity stunt, nobody could really think they were going to beat Hillary Clinton this time. The only exposure to him I had was from his show "The Apprentice". I couldn't wait to see the debates because I wanted to see an arrogant douchbag get absolutely humiliated on stage on a global scale and drop out after plugging a new show or something. Then the debates started..

I was in absolute awe as I witnessed him systematically destroy career politicians with ease. He did it so fluidly it was like he wasn't even trying and was clearly having fun doing so. I didn't vote for him in 2016 because I believed the polls that said Clinton would win in a landslide. As of now he will be the first Republican I've ever voted for in 2020.
