Why does the U.S. impose a mandatory living tax on contact lens wearers? Is this legal?

Why does the U.S. impose a mandatory living tax on contact lens wearers? Is this legal?

It's against the law to purchase contact lenses without getting a prescription within the last year. Eye doctor visits and contact lens fittings cost at least $75.

My prescription hasn't changed in the last 10 years, yet I have to fucking shell out $ each and every year to follow this law.

I could understand requiring it as part of a routine examination... but I get charged 100+ dollars in addition to a routine exam. They do nothing different than a routine exam.

How many years have you been using lens ?
What kind of lens do you use ?

bump

I've been wearing them for 20 years. I wear Acuvue Oasys lenses. The other retarded shit is that every ((( ophthalmologist ))) tries to shill you on their brand of contacts when you go in for an exam. Then they get pissy when you turn them down.

get lasik
it's not that expensive
and it's only painful in ways you don't expect

You should try leaving the country occasionally. I buy all my prescriptions, contacts, medical supplies I would have to see a Dr for, as well as thousands of dollars of other basic shit when I travel. I just ship it home. No biggie.

Forgot the site but there's one based in British Columbia that doesn't require a prescription. Prices are.good too. Might be fresh lens,.not sure.

What in the fuck nonsense are you babbling about?

If I was to get a procedure i'd get wavefront prk...but really I'm perfectly happy with contact lenses

I do this with some drugs like antibiotics to avoid paying out the ass for urgent care clinics, but I don't travel enough to stock up on lenses

let you in on a little trick
get the whole year box for weekly wear from acuvue, 52 lenses for each eye. They're the same exact lenses they sell you for 2-week daily wear.
Buy 1 year supply, wait a couple months and reorder. 100 lenses per eye lasts me 3 years and they have a shelf life of like 5+

Total is about $500 with fitting and everything for 3 years which isn't that bad

>and it's only painful in ways you don't expect
I was under the impression that it wasn't painful at all so thanks for ruining that surprise.

lasik is the equivalent of getting a contact lens permanently attached to your eyes, if your vision changes (and it will) you are completely fucked and have to wear correction on top of correction an change fucking glasses every
year it's a total fucking ((((((scam)))))))

>.but really I'm perfectly happy with contact lenses
Are you though ? Isn't it annoying to put them on every day and irritate your eyes ?

bullshit. I live in the USA and have NEVER had a problem with this. My last prescription was 2 yrs ago. reordered a couple months back

all Canadian vendors do NOT require a prescription

I got lasik 2 months ago today. 20/10. It kicks serious ass. OP is full of shit though, I wore contacts for a long time.

it's really not

I've been doing it for so long I don't even think about it

I could literally rub my eyeballs with sandpaper and it wouldn't bother me

bullshit

Taxation is theft, OP. You need to lurk more.

>, if your vision changes (and it will)
How and when
I can't see anything past 5 meters everything becomes blurry as fuck

dumbass
you're looking at a life time of wearing glasses once you hit 40, for the rest of your life

Wear glasses bitch! 1 time payment, own them for life, no refills required. You pussy ass entitled bitch. If you want contacts than get them and shut the fuck up. I bet you're one of the faggots that cannot get it through your stupid fucking head that for the price of Mcdonalds to feed your fat ass once, I can feed a family of 4 for 3 days.

Just wear glasses. Or get a job w/ better insurance. Figure something out, contacts aren't that expensive.

They just do touch ups now.

Just get glasses you fucking moron, only betas use contact lenses. Why live in discomfort just to try to trick people into thinking you're normal?

I didn't realize this because I have decent insurance that covers yearly eye exams anyway.

Why would you not get yearly checkups? Do you also not go to the dentist? Do you not get your shots?

If you're not a retarded nigger, you get a script, then order about 3-4 years worth since your vision won't change that much. The online sites won't limit how many boxes you buy.

>not just buying on the black market on the deep web made by highly skilled chinese children

>Why would you not get yearly checkups? Do you also not go to the dentist? Do you not get your shots?

Boomer detected

Oh, like I had been since I was a child? I get 25+ years of normal no glasses now, I don't care if I need READING glasses when I'm old. Also, I got the lifetime coverage plan and have thick corneas so I can get multiple touch ups :)))))))))))))

oh don't worry user by the second eye you will know what to expect once they wedge the ring down your socket
I went from 20/800+ to 20/10. My vision will never drop back down to what it was, but when I'm old I may need reading glasses
the only jewy part is the eye drops you have to buy for the rest of your life
luckily I can get by on about one box every four months or so

>yearly dentist

lol no

You don't need contact lenses faggot

wrong

youre just comprehending that the american pharmaceutical machine is jewing you and paying your politicians to feed you lies about healthcare socialism?

How much do you guys pay for contact lenses? I'm coming to school for the year soon and just reordered 90 pair of dailies for ~130CDN (100USD). Wondering if it'd be cheaper to bring the prescription to the US and order

wrong

nigger. I bought 2 boxes of my contacts from 1800 contacts with NO hassle. just put in your god damn prescription you idiot

Wrong huh? I guess all those times I ordered contacts from multiple different sources I was breaking the law huh?

>yearly (((fluoridation))) and (((vaccines)))

hello Dr. Shlomostein

>phone and computer samefagging

Reported for not Jow Forums related.

Contacts cover your entire field of vision instead of only partial

don't listen to OP he's just a fucking idiot.

All you have to do is to go one of the MANY online stores and ENTER YOUR PRESCRIPTION and pay. Literally no questions asked.

3 yr prescription, been ordering for years

Attached: file.png (267x200, 94K)

think of it this way
-let's say you are in your 20's and your vision is like -4.25 and your reading vision is fine

you get lasik at this point to fix the -4,25 problem

10 years later (very conservative estimate) your vision goes from -4.25 to -5.25

if you had glasses or contacts you can just throw them away and get some for the new correction

however if you had lasik, you are stuck with the -4.25 WRONG correction, you need to add -1.00 in glasses, when you get later you'll need reading glasses, which will never be accurate, because of the permanent aberration made by lasik

not to mention night vision which drops a lot a 40 for people with myopia, with lasik the drop is way more problematic, you'll have issues just driving at night

Are you ok my man ?

>oh don't worry user by the second eye you will know what to expect once they wedge the ring down your socket
fug

I got a year's supply for -20 dollars because my insurance covered almost all of the cost and Acuvue was offering a rebate so I actually made money buying contacts.

you can get the acuvue oasys and wear them 7 days/nights straight without taking them out, very comfortable I wear mine like 10 days usually. 52 pairs for ~$230

its not bad at all, you dont really feel the eye speculum. For me the bad part was the pressure when they use the laser to cut the flap. so much pressure. it sucked for like a day and then felt fine. now at 2 months my dry eyes have gone away mostly as well, i just need drops when i wake up

just wear glasses. contacts are for special snow flakes obsessed with vanity

am i the only one who doesn’t take the lenses off for 30+ days? i still have my 15 pair pack that i bought last year. have like 9 pairs left
dry eyed every morning but i’m saving tons of money

they ask for photo of your prescription and telephone # from eye doc, they don't check the date?

Every state in the US has different rules

Only some require yearly prescription

>cant purchase contact lenses without a prescription
OOOOOH SAY CAN YOU SEEEEEEEEEEEEE

actually. contacts are great for physical activities. Like the gym or sports. Also if you wear contacts you can wear non prescription sunglasses/

That's not so bad then. The only real worry I have is the night vision loss but supposedly this is one of the complications they mostly resolved from when they first started offering it.

no. i literally just enter the information

>normal
Seems to me that fucked up vision is what’s normal. I’m the only person in my family without glasses or contacts and almost everyone I know has them

kek

I worried about that, mine only got better since I could actually fuckin see. You don't see worse in the dark or anything. Driving at night kinda sucks still but that has been getting better every week. As long as you don't get groupon mwexican old school cheap lasik you're good. I went to one of the top places in the country that does a bunch of athletes. shit was cash

Знaeшь этo вpeднo нocить линзы тaк дoлгo

This is where I'm at. My vision has changed some with a mild astigmatism and one eye myopia. At least night vision rocks, I lucked out with that. Also reading glasses suck donkey nuts.

Jeez... What kind of lasik are you guys getting??? I had mine done about 6 months ago. I explicitly got mine done at the most expensive place in my area (they charged like $400 more). Don't cheapo out on this shit, it's your fucking eyes. Get it done at the best place you can.

I had no pain during the procedure, I haven't used any drops after I was done the normal regimen, and no, I don't have any punctal plugs either. This was worth every "extra" dollar I spent on it. Best money I've ever spent period. Also, if my prescription ever does change this place will put me under the laser again free of charge, for life.

Get lasik, but only at the best place. Travel for it if you must.

My night vision actually improved, all things considered
And as for the pain/pressure part, if you get it done at Duke at least they'll give you a little stress ball that actually does wonders
You may go into a fight or flight mentality just because your body's natural response to someone cutting open your eye is "stop"

It's the same in Canada. Have to pay 70 bucks for some chink optometrist to evaluate my eyesight despite having the same eyesight for the past ten years, on top of paying for the contact lenses themselves. Like the government gives a shit about my eyes, just another corporate kike invention to grab shekels off us goyim.

Well that's good to hear. I can't afford it right now but it's definitely something I'd like to get done at some point.
