How do we decide who is "worthy?" At least monarchy with dynastic succession as you are describing has a clear and stable means of ownership transfer. With a "benevolent dictatorship" there is no legitimacy. If the benevolent dictator dies, the government descends into factionalism and every ambitious power-grabber thinks that he is "worthy" to succeed the dictator.
Further, Spain and Portugal had benevolent dictators and it didn't stop them from sliding into progressivism as soon as those dictators were out of the picture.

I like the idea of encouraging the importance of the family, of the family as the basic organic unit of a society, but I'm wondering if a balance is necessary. If a society becomes too clannish, then it becomes low-trust, and there is more economic friction because of that. Next time you're in Ireland leave Dublin. I live there, I grew up there and I love my city but its one hell of a kip now. My in-laws moved to Carlow about a year ago, its the Ireland you are looking for, along with most places outside of Dublin. Doesn't even have to been in the arsehole of the rural countryside.
