Basically the Fusion thing is, it requires them to dance, usually in a provocative manner.
In one episode, one of the characters tricks another to "fuse" with her, which pisses the ever living fuck out of the other, so much so that she can't even bring herself to continue to "fuse" with her permanently fused partner.
Fusion is clearly sex. Steven (The kid) fuses with a girl in the show and is told by multiple people that it's "okay" to do so.

I recently watched the new Jungle Book movie.

Meh, SU is pretty tame compared to some of the degenerate shit you see on other shows and networks. Most of the fusion stuff comes down to analogues for relationships more than straight up sex (healthy and unhealthy, supportive and abusive, etc).
