I like the idea of amending the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include a ban of discrimination based on sexual orientation. It would be simple. It would be straightforward. We don’t need to rewrite the laws currently on the books, although I do think we need to address hate-crimes legislation. But amending the Civil Rights Act would grant the same protection to gay people that we give to other Americans — it’s only fair.
Just out of curiosity, do you belong to any groups currently protected under said laws? Have you ever experienced discrimination in a business open to the public (public accommodation)?
Josiah James
>My was a southern pride preacher father gay baptist
I mean it makes sense that people who don't face discrimination don't support these laws out of lack of self interest, but between racial, gender, and sexual minorities, that's probably over 50% of the population.
The Civil Rights Act passed and protects minority races, who at the time of passage were I think under 20% of the population.

This >Have you ever experienced discrimination in a business open to the public (public accommodation)? As a white man I am openly discriminated against in college and scholarship applications as well as job applications and promotion
Jaxon Torres
Have you found it hard to get into college and get promotions directly on account of your race?
Jace Reyes
Part of the reason I don't support discrimination laws. I disagree with Jim Crow laws, and think there are hypothetical and real instances in which law may be applicable, such as when the majority of public accomodation is discriminatory toward a group with little to no mobility. However, that's not the current cultural milieu, and we don't have to protect gays from being denied a wedding cake from a Christian bakery.
Also, what's with all these fucking meme flags? Did someone cross-link this thread to /lgbt/, or are you a bunch of shills?

I missed out on ~20k in scholarship money based on what my step sister (1/4 native or some shit) got with worse grades than me. Personally I haven't had issues getting work but it's only because as a white man I know to avoid sectors where I'll be overlooked for promotion by more 'diverse' coworkers

Do you typically shop at a nearby supermarket, or do you like to go well out of your way to get groceries?

I support anti LGBT laws, they all need to be deported to Brazil where they belong.

And you are sure there were no other differences in your applications?

Small business owners should be free to hire only the best candidates. The definition of "best" should be left up to the owner of the business.
For me, having sexual minorities on my staff poses a hazard to my business and other employees. You see, sexual minorities often cause workplace drama and are more likely to cause discomfort in others. This makes my workplace less productive.
I never hire sexual minorities. If I discover that one of my employees is a "sexual minority" then they are quietly dismissed. I have no formal policy on sexual minorities in the workplace and so, I do not discourage people outing themselves in the workplace. It only makes it that much easier to find the radicals that need to be eliminated from the profitable venture I am building. Facebook rainbows and Equal signs? The only thing those things equal are the unemployment line.
Fire, do not hire, do not teach, do not even speak to... Flee from sexual immorality.
Try not to lead so much with your questions, especially when they add nothing to what's already been said. If a bakery doesn't accommodate gays, let the bakery suffer the consequences. We live in an era of unprecedented consumer agency.

She was a year behind me so I helped her with her applications. I had years more volunteer work as well as extra curriculum activities. I had a 3.35 gpa (I had lower grades my senior year because I was taking college writing, statistics, and chemistry classes). She had a 2.8 gpa taking the bare minimum classes. It's very helpful financially to be native American these days (look up native only home loan deals, some are pretty ridiculous)
Jayden Ward
But user, the bakeries that have refused to serve gays have MADE money in private donation. NONE have closed because of boycotts or a decline in business.
This doesn't just apply to bakeries. Pharmacies, grocery stores, any building with a physical publicly open storefront is a public accommodation.
Luke Wright
Maybe she writes better than you or they preferred her selection of activities or courses.
Jeremiah Fisher
So do the laws kick in when whites are 49.9% of the country? They will be a minority after all
Or perhaps the new narrative will be over wealth and ownership, and it'll never be enough until whites are dead. Civil Rights are supposed to apply to everybody, and you still deny it. Shove it up your gaping asshole you pedophile
Nathaniel Walker
No, I am saying they will be more likely to pass then.
Jason Bell
Nor would I be an enthusiastic patron of any business that promotes degeneracy. Monopolies excel at shoving social justice down the throats of their consumers.
But fast food... fast food shills for degenerates and abominations 24/7... you don't have to work there, you don't have to buy.... God wonders why you eat that shit to begin with.
Leave the fast food to the shit-eating, soulless, sexual deviants.
Mostly because their stories blew up into national media attention.
And I'm aware of what a public accommodation is, but how many grocery stores are champing at the bit to deny service to gays? Present evidence of a problem before proposing a solution.
Christian Stewart
I don't understand how a colored wrapper hurts you in any way other than your tender, tender feelings?!?
Dominic Gomez
They never refused service to gays, they specifically refused to bake a certain cake. The child groomers could buy any other cake if they pleased. If they were discriminating against molesters then they would be refused service entirely
Evan Ramirez
Well the problem is that gay people risk humiliation when buying things in public. It may not be all the time, but why allow it at all?
Gavin Thomas
>I don't understand how a colored wrapper hurts you in any way other than your tender, tender feelings?!? This is a statement composed by someone that wants to convince us they have normal cognitive function.
Jaxson Gray
They specifically refused service because they were a gay couple. Straight people do not have gay weddings.
Xavier Miller
His tender feelings are him expressing his opinion without violence and disruption. He isn't trying to get laws passed where you can't criticize his ideas. And he's not demanding they be shut down either
Justin Ward
Your sickass sexual dysfunction is not a civil right, you twisted boyfucking piece of drug addled shit.
Kayden Miller
Stores are welcome to voice their opposition to gay people, they just wouldn't be able to refuse them service and publicly humiliate them in doing so with public accommodation laws extended to sexual orientation.
I can't refuse to bake a cake for a Christian wedding, and religious beliefs are a choice.
None of these businesses have been shut by the authorities. All either stayed open, or voluntarily closed. Many made hundreds of thousands in private donations, and all have gotten free legal assistance from Christian legal groups like ADF and Liberty Counsel.
Austin Brooks
>Do you support anti-discrimination laws on the basis of sexual orientation? Public: Yes Private: No
Justin Mitchell
But the point is that these businesses function as a public amenity and are meant to serve the general public.
People can register their business as a private club and not simply let in everyone if they wish to discriminate, or they can run their business from home, because these laws only apply to businesses with publicly accessible storefronts.
Zachary White
I think the question of hiring sexual deviants is intrinsically tied to buying from companies that shill for sexuality in the public eye.
Take Tony the (tired ass furry faggot) Tiger for example. Cereal has never been gayer.
Cereal has also never been more full of glyphosate, sugar, preservatives, and in minerals that the body can't really use very well.
Why do you buy this shit to begin with let alone work for a company like General Mills or Kellog?
>Do you support anti-discrimination laws No, because they are never anti-discrimination laws. They're discrimination laws.
>Two people kill someone they hate >One victim was a faggot >This means they get different jail sentences.
End this bullshit. They are not worth more than anyone else.
Blake Hill
>Maybe she writes better than you or they preferred her selection of activities or courses. >writes better Oh man I wish I had an essay she wrote... This was not the case. >preferred her selection of activities or courses Couldn't have been her courses as I outlined above. I volunteered every year in high school coaching k-5 basketball and soccer. I also ran baseball tryouts and helped coach a team every year (my parents ran the local little league while I was in high school so that my little brother could play). I also helped many charities raise money.
My sister on the other hand preferred smoking pot at every opportunity and was caught shoplifting a few times. She tried helping a softball team for about a week before she quit. She did work at a native corporation for about a month one summer before she was fired for showing up late repeatedly

I don't see how someone owning a business means that they have any obligations to the public. The public doesn't own any part of it. So they should have no say in it. I'm a member of society that interacts with people and I don't want the public coming over to my house and telling me I can't jerk off to anime girls. The only exception I can think of is if the private business is publically funded in some way.

No they'll either kick you out with the jews or kill you.
Andrew White
Nobody is "waking up" to supporting discrimination.
Millennials draw no distinctions between discrimination protections that should be afforded gay and lesbian people, on the one hand, and transgender people on the other. More than seven in ten (73%) millennials support legal protections against discrimination in jobs, public accommodations, and housing for gay and lesbian people. A nearly identical number (72%) of millennials say they favor these same protections for transgender people.
While no significant racial or gender differences exist on either question, there are large religious divides in support for expanding nondiscrimination legislation. Roughly eight in ten black Protestant (80%), white Catholic (82%), Hispanic Catholic (81%), religiously unaffiliated (83%), and white mainline Protestant millennials (78%) favor laws that would protect gay and lesbian people against discrimination in jobs, public accommodations, and housing. About two-thirds (66%) of Hispanic Protestant millennials also favor such laws. White evangelical Protestants are closely divided on this issue, with a slim majority (51%) favoring laws that would protect gay and lesbian people against discrimination, and 47% opposing them. Among religious groups, the pattern of opinion about non-discrimination legislation protecting transgender individuals is nearly identical.

This. In today's world, if you make discrimination legal, then it's okay for the far left to discriminate against white people. I'd rather make it okay not to discriminate against anyone - even if I don't like shitskins and trannies - if it means at least I have an equal shot in life. Of course, here in canuckland, gays, trannies, and blacks have a better chance at getting hired or admitted to schools given the same qualifications, AND I can't discriminate against them, so we have the worst of both worlds. It's literally harder to get into college or get hired at many large companies, and especially at government jobs, as a white dude. A given gay black person has a greater chance at getting hired than a huwite male if they have the same resume. Don't pretend you don't know this.
Ian Campbell
They would've made the cake if it didn't require two male figurines on it and a message indicating that the cake was for a gay wedding. If the couple had bought the cake and done the designs themselves afterwards, nothing would've happened.
Jose Wood
Tell me more about how hard life is as a straight white male plz bb.
Actually if you are discussing the "Masterpiece" cake case you are incorrect. They never got to the point of discussing what would be on the cake.
The guy refused to make them a cake because they were gay. He makes cakes for straight weddings, and now, he doesn't make wedding cakes at all because he is not allowed to profit at the expense of some in a business hypothetically open to all.
I'm not sure what that has to do exactly with public accommodation laws. Laws preventing discrimination against Blacks in stores and businesses open to the public do not make life harder for white people.
So which bothers you more: black people, or gay white people?
Christopher White
How about get rid of all discrimination laws and start kicking all your asses
Jace Adams
Sure, I would support not giving special protections to religious people based on their delusional fantasies of sky protectors. Lets start by repealing those special protections!
William Hughes
My point was that anti-discrimination laws need to be universal in their enforcement. Current laws in Canada, for example, say that in processes like hiring, conducting business, school admissions, etc. can't discriminate based on racial background or gender, but rejecting equally or better qualified whites/men is somehow okay. Either discrimination is okay, or it isn't. There shouldn't be a double standard. If a better candidate gets rejected because they didn't have the right skin color or genitals, that's immoral, and discriminatory. That is why current anti-discrimination laws need to be rewritten, or legal precedents need to be made to uphold universal application of the law.
Andrew Martinez
So, to sum up, only fire, never hire sexual degenrates
Degenerates of the world are on the outside of decent society. That society includes employment. Cut off their connection to commerce. They will flock to large corporations where they can become boycott-able.
As for sexual degeneracy in small business? Certainly never buy from mom and mom or pop and pop shops... That's just common sense.
The gay dollar can stay with the gays. Fiat currency is for shit anyways...
How do you know which businesses are gay, you might ask? Look up your local gay commerce group. They exist and they are almost always small, relying on one or two big corporate donors, and easily avoidable in terms of doing real business.
Why choose? >repeal these particular ones first because I can't be rational to begin with of course
Jonathan Lopez
Because religious beliefs are a choice, people don't choose to be gay or black.
Juan Carter
>anti-discrimination laws on the basis of sexual orientation dude I fuck watermelons at the minimart support my orientation!!! MUH FEELINGS MUH OPPRESSION nobody gives a shit what you do in your bedroom you filthy degenerate and neither should the state, your kind should fuck off and die

If you don't care what we do in the bedroom then why do you refuse us service for being gay?
