Can I get a quick rundown on the Bosnian war? I tried to read up briefly on it and idk if the wiki page for it is shit or I am just a brainlet but I really dont know why it happened, who it was with, why a bunch of muslims were involved, the whole meme of serbs croats and removing kebab or why there are so many muslims in that part of Europe.
Im pretty dumb on the region but also a brainlet so someone break it down for me.
you should keep in mind the ethnic maps of the region at all times so that it would be a bit more clear why exactly it was Bosnia and certain parts of it that were affected. Only Slovenia used to consist of almost 100% Slovenes, all other nations were a mess. Croatia had around 10% Serb population, Bosnia was roughly 30/30/30 divided between Serbs, Croats and Bosniaks. Kosovo had a shrinking Serb population that was around 20% before wars started, Montenegro had around 10% Bosniaks and Serbia had a pinch of everyone
would u say that multiculturalism was one of the causes/enablers of the balkan wars?

It looks like no one was really in the right or wrong and for me at l3east its hard to put the cause on one thing, I would say diversity/multiculturalism just does not work.
Idk I am still no where near knowledgeable enough on this to really have an opinion but the videos above really did enlighten me.

multiculturalism no, but multinationalism yes. I've travled yugoslavia far and wide and the culture is more or less the same everywhere. People eat the same, drink the same, traditionally dress the same, same folklore, same stories, shared history, same langauge ... Only major difference being religion. Troughout the history these differences were sometimes smaller allowing for unification and sometimes escalated allowing for numerous wars Balkans has seen during the last 5 centuries.
It can't be multicultural if there's only one culture

Very interesting topic. I recently started reading about it too. I think it was inevitable due to the number of nationalities that simply despise each other in the part of the world. There were a lot of massacres, none more infamous than Srebrenica. Fun fact, some Croatians were recruited by the Nazis to oversee some of the Concentration Camps. They were called Ustasha. Read up on them if you're interested. These guys were messed up in the head.

I mean I could be a prime example of an average slavic balkan inhabitant. Living in Serbia born to a family that used to live in Herzegovina having close relatives in Montenegro and in Croatia. The ethnic line is hard to draw relying only on the self declaration. You have muslims in Seriba that aren't Serbs and Serbs in Bosnia that are Muslim. Catholic Serbs in Croatia but orthodox Croats in Bosnia and on and on ...

>Srebrenica >UN declared its protection of this place >made it a safe zone >did nothing to stop the massacre
Typical UN
Gavin Richardson
>hey UN, this village needs halp >ok, we will declare it a protectorate >paramilitary troops now settle in he village becuase they believe it is safe >pissed off Serbs storm it >UN does nothing
>hey UN, this war in Kosovo is killing lots of civillians on both sides >no worries my friendos, we the UN will declare the entire land our protectorate >now without the presence of Serbian military or police the Albanians can exile Serbs as much as they want >UN does nothing >Almost all Serbs get exiled
UN causes more problems than it solves

This might be interesting too notice how Kosovo than was majorly Serbs and how whoever made this map just categorized all Slavs as "Serbs". Notice also how many Turks inhabited the peninsula and how many greeks were in Turkey. I bet all those greeks got asimilated into Turks and vice versa
