MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. - Mississippi investigators are on the scene of an active shooter situation on U.S 72, west of Slayden.

DeSoto County SWAT is also on the way to the scene. A member of the SWAT team says multiple shots were fired in the area.

Slayden, MISSISSIPPI — Police were responding to an active shooter incident on U.S 72 in Marshall County, Mississippi Tuesday–the highway has been shut down.

According to local media, a SWAT team and helicopters have been called in amid ‘multiple gunshots fired.’ It was unclear how many shots were fired or if their were any victims.

Several roads are closed in the area as residents were urged to stay away from the scene.
