They're more likely to support sensible, prudent, and equitable economic policy, and more likely to be less knee-jerk bigoted, but that doesn't mean they're more likely to support the mad excesses of the radical left.

Furthermore, unless you're educated in politics then your education doesn't really count for much in the political sphere. A degree in engineering does not help you parse a policy debate.

Colleges are basically indoctrination centers. In order to get my degree, I was required to take a class on white guilt, racism, and sexism. I also had to take a lit class with an openly Marxist professor who required all work to be from a Marxist perspective.

From a psychological standpoint, making someone take that - or any -stance even once makes them more likely to do so again. I forget what it's called but it's been shown repeatedly in experiments and is part of why captured POWs are often forced to say things supporting their captors on film - it makes them more pliable.

Tl;dr: universities force thenciewpoint upon you and use psychological tricks to make it stick.

What I expected:

My brother’s girlfriend just graduated earlier this year and she had the opposite experience. She used to come home upset all the time because she felt like she was wasting her time and money having to listen to professors talk about gender politics and other nonsense that had nothing to do with the class. She said there were other students that would have conversations with each other about being Marxists as if it was the cool thing to do. No one could speak up or say anything to the contrary because they were outnumbered by the mob. Sad, but she made it through and graduated.
