We need to expand our civilization even if that means into other ethnicities. Leftism (albeit a poor form) is an effort to grow into a direction that is able to still consolidate power.
It really just comes down to birth rates. Multiculturalism is the attempt to market and sublimate the dark truth that we cannot sustain our engine without human capital. That we cannot do it by ourselves because of our own structural problems we take others in.

I'm no historian but its probably the issue most civilizations run into. Cultivating administrators and bringers of society/culture/civilization is not an easy task. That successful ones do so off marriage means child rearing and resource gathering is privatized. However that also puts a ceiling on how many kids you can have. In the end the upper class has their fertility rates drop and there isn't enough work to sustain what was created.

The answer still doesn't have to be multiculturalism. But that our nations adamantly refuse to find a way to promote birth rates means that it leaves only certain solutions on the table. Whether people like it or not a form of socialism is probably necessary to do so.

Absolute truth. Political platforms should be evaluated based on merit rather than party affiliation. People are being divided into tribes based on what news media they prefer.
