It sucks but if something can be made cheaper somewhere else capitalism dictates it will be made cheaper somewhere else.
Tariffs are passed on directly to the consumer so you would be charging the entire country more to prop up a single industry that isn't working efficiently, that is also a leftist style policy. Our best bet is to focus on the industries that can't be exported or that are more efficient to do here.
