Mueller referred Manafort on charges of tax evasion and money laundering. Charges which Rod Rosenstein cleared him of in 2012 back when Manafort was glow in the dark. We suspect this was to put pressure on Manafort to turn State’s evidence on Trump. Unfortunately for Manafort, there’s nothing to turn on.
The judge finds this whole process bullshit. But since they’re legit charges, he can’t dismiss. So instead he’s making the prosecution look like amateurs. He interrupted the opening statement to call them out for their bullshit and has repeatedly sent the Jury away so he could bitch out the prosecutors. That doesn’t bode well for the prosecution. But, Manafort is still on trial.
Meanwhile, Manafort’s Exhibit A is Rod Rosenstein himself. And the prosecution’s star witness just admitted in a court of law to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from Manafort. We should know by the end of next week whether he walks or not.
