>The economy is doing grea-

Wrong again, Jow Forums - yet another major company is facing bankruptcy and shutting down stores. How do you explain this, if the economy is actually doing well?

>Mattress Firm explores US bankruptcy to close stores, sources say

>Mattress Firm, the largest U.S. mattress retailer, is considering a potential bankruptcy filing as it seeks ways to get out of costly store leases and shut some of its 3,000 locations that are losing money, people familiar with the matter said. The deliberations make Mattress Firm the latest U.S. retailer struggling due to competition from e-commerce firms such as Amazon.com putting pressure on brick-and-mortar retailers.

>Mattress Firm's South African parent, Steinhoff International Holdings, has been working on a deal to restructure the debt of some subsidiaries with its creditors, following an accounting scandal. Creditors agreed last month to hold off on their debt claims for three years. Steinhoff acquired Mattress Firm for $3.8 billion in 2016.

>Both Houston-headquartered Mattress Firm and Steinhoff are working with consulting firm AlixPartners, the two sources said this week. AlixPartners helps companies plan and execute turnaround strategies, and is often brought in to lay the ground for bankruptcy.

Mattress salesmen are crooks and sheisters.

You can buy better, cheaper mattresses online, delivered to your door.

Mattress firm was a front for money laundering. they have 3 on the same block in some towns and never any customers.

>JUST BUY MATTRESSES OFF AMAZON BRO

You are the fucking problem, sucking Bezo's dick. It's ruining other businesses and the economy.

Online retail has gotten to the point where everyone knows of it, and knows it's cheaper.

This means that many markets have too many retailers servicing them and some are destined to close.

this, their parent company got busted for it last year.

This. Now they're burning evidence.

>front for money laundering
>they have 3 on the same block in some towns and never any customers.
I unironically believe this could be true. There are hundreds of mattress stores in my town and they've been in business for as long as I can remember but I never see cars parked outside or any customers inside. How the fuck else do these places stay afloat? How often does someone go buy a new fucking mattress? Plus most furniture stores sell mattresses too.
Also sage for slide thread.

nobody was buying mattresses from these places.

It doesn't matter how well the economy is doing if you spend money like a horny drunk at a brothel. They've been buying other mattress companies at quite the pace and keeping stores that are just down the block from other stores open. Not a great way to save money.

Yeah, not wanting to pay extra money to go out and be harassed by some sleazy salesman makes me an asshole. Not that I think Bezos deserves any respect, but if retailers can't figure out how to compete it's on them.

>its my first bankruptcy
>the thread

>provide better service than competitors
>instead of waiting for competitor to get better, we should just suck their inferior wee wees to stick it to Bezos
Nah senpai. These whiners need to get down or lay down.

Okay, this is epic and basedpilled

Wasn't this that pizza store?

mattress firm is a money laundering operation, not a real store.

this isn't a joke.

>a company cant fail in a good economy
Wait till I tell all these guys the good news.

this 10000000x this
how often do people need to buy fucking mattresses? they aren't diapers

Maybe they wouldn't be going bankrupt if they didn't have a 2:1 ratio of stores per citizen. It's never made sense why these bastards have as many stores as they do. Ever.

This place is a front or simply another way to burn through QE money by investors, because this company makes no fucking sense.

>That’s it guise, a large mattress firm is restructuring its debt obligations and will likely close stores as part of this plan. The US is done for and will never EVER recover.
You sure you aren’t 12?

Good economic policies can't save shitty business models.

Literally 3 stores within visable distance every time I see this chain, both in mundeline, and lake zurick, ect..

There is some troubling economic news, the wealth gap in America is the largest since before the great depression, boomers are filing for bankruptcy in record numbers. This is troubling because it could mean that the elites have stripped most of the private wealth out of the economy namely the boomer generation, what is left to do is tank and short the stock markets then buy up assets for pennies on the dollar. The wealth transfer will then be complete and socialism may prevail, the elites aren't stupid, they are prepping us with these bat shit crazy socialists for a reason.

Unironically this. There's no sane business model to the distribution of stores. Clearly there is something else in play.

>This company that has been overextended for years and operating at a loss since the Obama administration is shutting down!
>Pol BTFO!
Why are kike shills so fucking retarded?

i sleep on a casper op build shit business model win shit built business model prize

>Amazon

No.
Direct from manufacturer after getting jerked around and bullshitted bu a couple dozen salesmen and managers.

Literally worse than buying a car.

The current trend is sleep number since they found ways to make them even more expensive for women to go into more debt for.

I always wondered about this place, had one in the ghetto that I lived nearby for my entire teenage/young adult years and I can't remember ever seeing a single car in its parking lot. I have never heard of or known a person that bought a bed from them. I could totally believe that it was a drug/mafia front.

Labor participation rate is at historic lows.
Purchasing power of the dollar is at historic lows.
Inflation is at historic levels, and keeps increasing
Wages aren't keeping up with inflation in the slightest
In short, yes the economy is fucked. All Trump is doing is using spit and gum to try and keep it together until the next president, who does the same, kicking the can down the road. Literally the only way to stop all this shit is to abolish the fed, back currency with precious metals, make all loans illegal unless it's for federal funding, invalidate all debt, and kick out all the Jews responsible for the shit fest. But none of that is ever happening. Hence presidents kicking the can down the road and selling soft white lies to keep consumer confidence up.

Really rabbi wasn't the sticky the first class they gave you before entering here?

In Tucson AZ There are 3 of these stores each in different corners of a 4 way intersection. And there are like a hundred in the city

Their beds are shit and they've spread bed bugs to numerous people's homes by taking people's old mattresses and keeping them in the delivery truck along with new mattresses waiting to be delivered. Google it. They deserve to be out of business.

If you buy furniture from anywhere but Bob's, you're retarded.

yeah there was a thread about this shit, idk where it started

Mattresses are out of style. Mattress stores are obsolete.

If you cant sell and ship a piece of memory foam with a catchy name (online) you will be looking for a new job!

Can confirm, three MF stores within a half mile radius of my home. Never see more than one vehicle in front of any of them.

That company over expanded like crazy trying to become a mattress store Monopoly.

It failed

No one cares

I don't think the point is that this company sucks, Americans are addicted to shopping, or rather were. If Americans had disposable income women would bug the shit out of their husbands to buy a new mattress or they get no pussy. If a man could fuck on a cardboard box, he wouldn't buy a mattress.
Which brings me to this lecture that Dave Chappelle gave.

MILLENIALS AREN'T SLEEPING ENOUGH

came here to post this. they have 4 locations less than 1 mile apart in my town

People are buying from other places dipshit

It's a store that only sells beds. No idea how they held on this long.

Good there were three of them in a quarter mile where I live they deserve to go out of business.

This right here. I had my mattress for my bed since I was 3(twin size mind you) and it still looks like it is brand new today after 27 years of having it(I am 30).

Modern companies like Casper, Leesa, etc. are offering a better product and experience and putting shitty dinosaurs out of business. Free market at work.

Mattress firm is a shit company. Went to one a month ago. Everything is literally priced in monthly payments. They buy generic mattresses and slap on their own brand name. Looked at once mattress for $950 I could get the exact same thing online for $500. The salesman was slimy as fuck trying to talk in terms of monthly payments like I'm some sort of paycheck to paycheck poor faggot.

Not beds. Mattresses and box springs. I mean, sharper image at least sold a variety of shit no one needs. But I have only ever had two mattresses in my life, and the contemporary advent of mattress delivery direct would probably keep me from walking in and buying a marked up mattress with delivery fees that may or may not be waived.

As inflation increases and the spending power decreases, you are making less and less. You don't need a fucking graph or article to prove this, this is basic fucking macroeconomics.

But please, keep calling me a fucking kike fuck you fag, because that's your only defense for covering your cretinism.
>Calls me a kike for wanting to abolish kike practices and institutions and removing them from financial power
Your kike hat is showing.

A major national chain is losing to locally owned stores. The locally owned mattress dealer in my home town is growing and booming with Mattress Firm literally a block down the street.
>implying this is bad or a sign of bad things

National chains are a plague that needs to end.

what do you expect mattress are like a lifetime purchase if you have no children fucking it up.
it is called costco or sam's club.

Mattress firm is a human trafficking front company. Jeff Sessions is shutting them down.

I'm a South African the company going bankrupt has nothing to do with US economy they have been cooking the books and lying to investors in their South African parent company for years, it was discovered and they faced massive sanctions from the government here. They have been cooking the books for years whole thing was pretty much a ponzi scheme.

The My Pillow Guy weeps uncontrollably in the corner.

>(((((((((leases))))))))))))))

Came here to say this. There are about 6 of these stores within 3 miles of my house. No one is ever in them.

This has nothing to do with the economy.

>Let's start a company
>Hmm, okay. What shall we name it?
>Well, we sell mattresses, so it has to have "mattress" somewhere in the name. Or be related to beds or sleep.
>Hmm.
>Mattress Madness? No, that might trigger the mentally ill.
>Bed Bonanza? Nah, sounds a bit like a '90s gameshow.
>Dream Deals? No.
>Bedtime Bartering, inc.? Nah. Sounds like a hooking operation.
>Dreams on Demand... hey! Not bad! But no.
>Because we're calling it MATTRESS FIRM.
>Genius.

I order all my mattresses through Amazon. They're cheaper and I like watching the UPS dude struggling up the stairs with my California King.

>be me
>get new mattress with good credit, get the most expensive shit i can
>don't even make first payment, file bankruptcy myself
>already went to first trustee meeting with lawyer, nobody objects there
>no one has at this point
>discharge should be in two weeks
>have heard nothing and will most likely been discharged
my credit might be shit now but hell yeah free mattress

You are now hearing "Mattress Sperm" whenever you hear one of their commercials. Manually.

Has nothing to do with that. Mattress Firm was in the process of buying many other mattress dealers and local locations, which frequently would be nearby or even neighboring competitors. When they first bought those companies, they didn't immediately rebrand to maintain customer bases, but over time they did. All the purchases probably didn't help them when it came to accumulating tons of debt they clearly can't pay off.
