First off, Facebook, Twitter, and Google are not private companies. People are trying to create a false equivalency between Joe Blow’s bakery and Zuck, but it falls flat on its face because Zuck’s company is public, with shareholders and a place on the stock market. Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are just as public as Walmart is. Second off, censoring certain views based on politics means that Facebook is a PUBLISHER not a platform and therefore they should have their (government provided, mind you) liability waiver on illegal user posted content revoked.

You either have first amendment protection as a speaker/publisher with an editorial process or you are a platform that isn’t responsible for the speech on it. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

The limited editorial that is allowed for a company to be considered a platform instead of a publisher is meant for them to remove illegal content (like child porn). It is not meant to allow them to take political positions on user content.

Third and final point is our government has artificially propped up Google through defense contracts, backdoor deals with our intel agencies etc.
Theres a super strong argument to be made that they wouldnt be where they are today had our own government not propped them up against all competitors.
Google banning Infowars and right wingers should at the very least start a public revolt against our governments cooperation with them.
