And, no, Latin was not pervasive as a lingua france in that period. "That period" would be the early Bronze Age, when proto-Celtic began taking shape as a distinct language according to the phylogenetic data we have. At this time, it's unlikely that Latin even existed, much less was it any sort of lingua franca.

Saying "Northern Celts have virtually no genetic similarity with Mediterranean peoples" doesn't mean much because "Northern Celts" (by which you presumably mean those of the core Halstatt and La Tene regions) are Celticised peoples. Again, Celtic languages almost certainly originated from the Atlantic fringe, necessitated by the Atlantic trading network that existed during the Bronze Age. Celticness was subsequently projected from this region EASTWARDS (not westwards, as theorised back in the 60s). People along the Atlantic fringe actually do share a considerable degree of genetic similarity most especially with Iberians (who, I assume, are Mediterraneans), but also with certain Italic peoples.
