To create a stable economy you need a stable labour pool. If you increase the supply of labour suddenly the price of labour will fall, artificially decreasing wages and giving employers the ability to mistreat their workers because there's an endless labour pool to draw from. The most stable economy then is one with zero immigration.
Doesn't fully work when your country gives more incentives not to work and stay on benefits than to actually work. The fact that their are still so many jobs needing filling, especially with the NHS, shows the labour pool is still not at a great level yet. I'm very curious once weve shot ourselves in the foot with brexit how farmers will feel with british workers in the fields for the inflated price and extra moaning.

If there's a labour shortage on farms or in the NHS the price of labour will increase until the wage provides enough motivation for someone to take those jobs even if it means moving across the country to take them, or it creates incentives to automate the job.

Ok, il bow down simply as im not an expert on the subject. Its just something I observed as my wifes in NHS and they always go on about staff shortage, and most of my friends are factory workers at min wage and moan that they are understaffed. I haven't looked at a broader scope il happily admit to that. I dont want a perfect economy, I just want something stable. Ideally i want freedom of movement BUT i still want checks and some limitations (my wife and i like the idea that you can move anywhere for 3 months, but any longer you must sign up with the relevant authorities and that grants you 3 years leave to remain. During that time you can work and live etc but you must learn the language and history of the country you're living in. At end of three years you take a basic test (nothing as harsh as current life in uk test as that's just barbaric, british people cant even pass it!) and once they pass they get the indefinite leave to remain permanently. If they want citizenship they do that on top as normal).
