Can people (especially trump supporters ) tell me why they hate Bernie so much? As far as I can see he genuinely wants to help middle and lower class people by making college free and do something to help the insane healthcare system currently in the US where most people don't even have proper insurance without crazy deductibles. He wants to stop the wars abroad like trump promised and wants to get big money and wall street out of politics. How is any of this bad? If college is free and healthcare improved, the increase in taxes will be waaay less than the money people spend currently on health and college anyways. If taxes go up by 5000 dollars a year for example but a family saves on useless insurance premiums (whose deductables mean that you have to pay extra anyways for basic healthcare ) and the massively ridiculous college fees, how's this bad? It seems to me that people immediately get turned off by the prospects of increased taxes just because they're called "taxes" even if it saves them more money in the long run and their kids crippling education loans.

I would've voted for Bernie sanders if he won the primary. Hillary won so I voted Trump. Most of my friends did the same thing.
That being said I prefer the Trump presidency over what the Sanders presidency would've been in hindsight.

More about it being free is it being efficient. The US spends a crazy amount as a percentage of its GDP on healthcare, way more than other developed countries which often have better health indices and outcomes. If you're paying more for less, wouldn't it make sense to collectively bargain and bring down those crazy pharma costs etc?

I think so. these are the sanders talking points that I like, unfortunately there's more to politicians than one dimension. He also would've opened the southern border making it impossible for a republican to ever win again, he would've worsened our international trade and image, there would be a new era of socially acceptable communism, NKorea would probably be testing nukes right now. there's a lot of negatives I think.

Universal healthcare in the US will cost FAR more than the total cost of private insurance and medicaid/medicare, because far more people get access.

The US generates a ton of new drugs and equipment innovations because of those prices. There would be a tradeoff due to less innovation.
Sanders is a fraud and a coward. He railed endlessly about Hillary was so bad, terrible judgement, etc then he concedes to her and becomes her lap dog. He still supported her after the leaks that the DNC collided with Hillary and fucked him out of the nomination. A man with no backbone is unfit to be a leader.

Healthcare would've been super cheap had the government never been involved. Look back at the moment they decided they wanted to regulate and help subsidize the healthcare industry, costs almost immediately skyrocketed.
Same thing goes for education. Once the feds created DOE, we've slowly been taught less and less. Look back at an 8th grade exam to graduate back in 1897 (I think). 8th grade used to be your final year back in the day. I would not be able to answer most of the questions myself. The government is always lowering the standard in which we need to exceed to be considered a graduate. Quite sad, really.

Having free healthcare isn't the same as making every single thing free. There are lots of countries in the developed world with socialised medicine and they haven't made every single thing free. People still have to work to live. And their health outcomes are waaay better than ours.
