Jan Egeland, Senior Advisor of the Special Envoy for Syria told the International Syria Support Group's Humanitarian Access Task Force in Geneva on Thursday "we are seeing the beginning of the end to the Syrian war".
Egeland added: "It’s a good thing that Russia has military police now allocated to many areas and they work to ensure that there are no reprisals against people that just did their job under opposition rule."
The senior adviser called for Western and Gulf parties to influence militant opposition groups and urge them to stop violence against civilians.

Ruptly youtube.com/watch?v=q_FZX4NQxh8 A compilation of photographs depicted sculptures and carvings made in underground tunnels by Syrian artists in the liberated town of Jobar in Eastern Ghouta on Tuesday.
Once serving as the means of connecting militants’ bases, these remnants of the Syrian Civil war are now becoming displays showcasing scenes of battle and endurance.
The network of tunnels, which were discovered back in April, extend for several kilometers and were used to connect militant-run underground field hospitals and bases.

- Czech diplomats secure release of German NGO workers in Syria
PRAGUE (Reuters) - The Czech Republic has negotiated the release of two workers for a German humanitarian group in Syria, the Czech and German foreign ministries said on Thursday.
The Czech Republic is the only country in Europe that maintains diplomatic relations in Syria, torn by seven years of civil war. The Czechs provide consular services for European Union citizens and act as intermediaries for other countries.
A spokeswoman for the German foreign ministry said the two workers, one of whom is a German man, had departed Syria and would now be reunited with their families.
The nationality of the other worker was not disclosed, and neither person was named.
The Czech ministry said in a statement that Foreign Minister Jan Hamacek traveled to Damascus for the handover of the workers, and that both were in good health.
They were to travel to Prague and be met by representatives of their embassies, the ministry said.
The German ministry spokeswoman welcomed Hamacek’s personal involvement in the case, and said the two workers’ return would likely not have been possible without the “quick and unbureaucratic help of our Czech friends.”
The two men were arrested several months ago near the Iraqi border on charges of entering the country without the necessary papers, according to Czech media reports.
No further details about the case or the workers were immediately available.

Story from three parts: 1-BBC: Israeli strikes kill woman and toddler 2- israel complain 3- BBC: israel strike kill woman and toddler after gaza launched missiles.
It's obvious that Israel lobbies to make itself look better. To be fair similar happens to stuff regarding US and Saudis all the time, but that doesn't make it ok. There are countless ways to frame a story, but to defend making killing civilians is just ugh. For Syria there is rarely additional information in MSM how the 'rebels' employ child soldiers contributing to the 'child murders' commited by Syrian government.

No nukes? Red, but with an absurd number of casualties
South Africa here, live in the Northern Cape and my entire town is in a frenzy of gun cleaning and forming militias in case land invasions occur here.
Recently police stations all across the province have been broken into, some successfully, some not. These criminals stole automatic rifles and other gear from them. We're reasonably concerned some type of serious plans are underfoot.
We had a town meeting a while ago after the government announced it will pursue "land expropriation without compensation" (government repossesses properties, both urban and rural, without paying a cent, which most blacks think means free for all on whites). Everyone agreed we need to take precautions (while staying within the law).
Our police station is a super small token force with like 10 staff and there's a large township 2 hour's walk away employed at some factory.
Now my friend is an experienced welder and I could order some steel from a city a few hours drive from here. I need advice on how to properly armour pick-up trucks as I'm not an automobile engineer or a general in any way. Terrain here is flat as a pancake, nowhere to hold up like guerrillas.
Most of the town consists of farmers so we mostly just have revolvers and .22LR hunting rifles.
What tactics can be used with pick-up trucks? I've noticed plenty have been used in Syria, and I also know many militants have captured entire military bases with small forces armed with them.
>The website report said Marine Sgt. Cameron Halkovich and Cpl. Kane Downey were checking perimeter security on Feb. 17, when Halkovich was shot by an SDF member who had apparently been lying in wait.
>Downey shot the SDF soldier, killing him.
>The Marines, a small contingent from Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, out of Twentynine Palms, Calif., had mainly been keeping watch over a “mission support site” in eastern Syria’s Deir al-Zour province.
Kinda odd how humans are the same whether in Scandinavia or the middle east. The Norwegian middle class came to be through women working as maids and knitters. These two professions lifted hundreds of households out of poverty. In Syria it's kinda the same. The poor towns are those where women are not allowed to work.
Baathism is breddy ok regarding woman rights, yes?
