Personally I don't think he was bad or a lair, but I believe he was misguided and wanted to defy basic human nature. The egalitarian veiwpoint of "we are all the same" and "judge us by our actions and not skin color (which ironically lead to the same thing over several generations)", these ideas don't work for long periods of time without a strong arm dictator. Every person of every ethnicity should have their own state to live in with similar people if they want.
