I'm a bartender and I probably make about $30/hr on average, sometimes as low as $20/hr and sometimes as high as $45/hr, despite being paid minimum wage.

With that said, I still don't make enough to actually have to pay taxes. I work about 3-4 days a month and live at home with mom while going to university.

The key to making money as a server is to work high end restaurants where people buy lots of wine and champagne.
What I do for girls I have over in 14 seconds (opening a bottle of wine) can net you 30-100 dollars depending on the price and bill, etc.

My roommate in college used to work weekends at an Applebees and was taking home $500-600 in cash. And almost all of that is tax-free, since plate-carriers NEVER report more than the absolute minimum required. (iirc it was something like 7% on your tickets) I was working retail for 5.15/hr. We rent a small house on a small lake like 40 mins from town for $800 a month. It's pretty comfy but to answer your question I ended up being a junkie for 3 and a half years instead of saving.

For the cheapest normal-tier caffees it's about 700 roubled per person~10 dollars.
