explaining it is difficult. not all asians like to gamble but for the ones that do they either do it for social reasons (most common) or they do it because they can sense "the flow" and its just a matter of honing the skill. its like the spider sense or a gut feeling. its all in your head unless statistically its right. easier to do it on gambling than in a war zone to find out if your lucked out at birth or are simply prone to emotional fluctuations

I met a few guys who came to US from China as part of foreign exchange programs. Being f. Chinese myself I went over to ask how's the old country.
These people who were supposed to be from major city universities had remedial english, soso math, terrible work ethics. They were by far not the bottom of the barrel from their homeland nor in their school, they were supposed to be on English level III, yet verb, preposition, conjungtion. It was all a mess
I was kind of led in the propaganda by parents that Chinese student work like hell and I'm always having it good. What I saw was PUBG, WeChat, Weibo, Mobile Legends, hikkomori or OCD on cell phone who either didn't pay attention in class or didn't hesitate to miss a few.

I have no clue how these people got into the Chinese universities especially when my parents told me how they had to study 5hours every day while barely eking it out from day to day with very limited expense and enormous competition to stay in college. Every waking moment not taking care of food and house work was in their library with reference books....I don't see these exchange students like this....despite claiming they were quite excellent from the institution they hail from.

Outside of major cities. Small municipalities and townships have the idea from folklore catechisms where being smart and getting away with it is merely the other party being dumb and falling for it. And thus you are not at fault.
While they do value hard work. It's sad the believe of being able to get away with anything is so rampant in China.

Conversely major cities are steeped in business respect and time in partnership. Whereby they assume the other party can help take on extra favors on account of long working relationship and a debt for future back slapping. And doing things in very ambiguous ways. Bribing, dumping excess, cheapening quality for cost....

Dunno. Everytime I go back to China for summer during my k-12. I have to visit my grandparents out of filial piety or some thing. I used to be materialistic and bit snooty, but gramps was the type to be very liberal with cane to the rear. While I was still a bit fucked in the head when in college. Was less so. I can only imagine what happens when 100% spoiled look like....

Cheating at exam is unethical and quite immoral. but here is the gist. everyone lives for themselves, and no one will ever care on oneself except his/her families. Life itself is at the utmost ruthless and no mercy. Those who live at the bottom of society and aren't aggressive enough to develop better are doomed to be enslaved. that is the reason of Chinks have overdo on studying to be the best. But Gaokao itself extremely competitive (just like admission on ivy league with penalties of SAT and """AA"""). And everyone realized that during exam, the person on the left, right, front and back will not always pass and you will never care a single fuck about them, only oneself pass that matters. A grand battleroyale that only you survive that matters by any means necessary! even sacrificing others to fail since they will never be thy friends. That's why cheating is acceptable as long as it is benefits for oneself and not get caught for the sake of advantages.

Well. In China the proper way to deal with bureaucracy if act like an ass and try reaching to the head or making the other guy uncomfortable so he finally gets off his ass to make your case heard up. Chinese bureaucracy is pretty notorious to take a long time or lose track of your package. This goes for both civil and business.

Most Americans f ex'd to other countries isn't expected to learn much of that country's language given most country accept English as a lingua franca. Oppositely most countries have a prerequisite for a certain minimum of English competencies so they do not embarrass the exchange program leading to the American university calling it off as 'not working'. Affecting pass/fail statistics semester basis etc.

idk about differences of Chinese and American education systems in details but, Asians educations are very regimented like the societies. all assessment based on numbers that called grades. rigid system that based on obedience of norms. This leads to a norms that only final scores are matters, not process. therefore during exam, you don't need to be master on the topics as long as you could score high by studying only the materials that appears as exam questions (any other lessons that are mentioned not appear at exam are immediately forgotten as it is irrelevant on affecting exam scores). This affects on how they study, only able to do as by order (means a robot), but not by self reliance, improvisation, and free will. three of this are essential for creativity which leads on innovations. Thus, Chinks are the best at exam when they are ordered so and provided by the curricula that need to be studied and appears on the exam. but lack on case studies that needs creative thinking of many possible scenarios

because they are ugly and weak. and the only way to power for them is through out money. and gambling seem to be a very easy way to money.
