people always long for something they have no clue how it actually was. ie dad was secretly a fag and mom was taking dick from the mailman in the 50s, people dont change. just now they dont have to hide or pretend.

dont forget 1 earner income could support a home and family. thanks democrats for fucking this up
Henry Walker
A single earner with no college education could support a household of five with a home they owned and two cars, urban and suburban areas were so clean and safe as to be unrecognizable today, and pop culture while not as nuanced was less hostile to the general population.
Adam Clark
Most advertisements and things were idealized drawings, so people who weren't actually there think of the fictional 1950s from ads and family sitcoms. Many people think that photos of upper class white people are how everyone in the country lived.
They literally think the millions of homeless people and drug addicts suddenly appeared out of nowhere overnight. They think black people somehow didn't exist despite being a nearly equal share of the population back then as they are now - it's hardly gone up at all.
Joshua Barnes
Things were not perfect. But they were, in many respects, better. Values that promoted and respected nuclear family formation and propagation. Generally stronger neighborhoods and communities. Lessened crime, and a more homogeneous demographic reality.
In an economic sense, things were good, but not sustainable. The technological advances of the war trickled down, America supplied the goods and services of the free world, and a vibrant youth culture bubbled into being. The situation was more settled than the present, and one could find a place being as dumb as a brick, or as smart as a rocket scientist.
Culturally, things were in many respects prudish and comparatively dull. But there was nonetheless a element to it that at least made society as a whole nostalgic. Especially given the tumult of the '60s after.
Evan Thomas
We didn’t have this shit in the 50s.
Juan Cooper
Because it was the start of the first US Treasury bond bubble. The end came in the late 70s. Then another began fueling the investment of the 80s, closing in the late 00s. It's so progressive too because less and less of the US credit issued makes its way into the hands of the common man! It's like being drained by a vampire.
Liam Fisher

Middle and upper class blacks are weird, like they want to live in white areas around white people but they bitch about it constantly at the same time. It's almost sad because they're chasing this black ideal that doesn't exist and never will, like there will never be an all black area they can go to to experience the standard of living they get in white neighborhoods and it just drives them up the wall. The thing is if they got their wish and filled their comfortable suburb up with ghetto trash, liquor stores, and dollar generals they'd be the first people to sell their houses and move out, if they're moving to a black neighborhood they'll bitch about gentrification but they're the first ones in line at the Starbucks or the Salon that costs $200 for a haircut.

8 year old children walked home from school without fear.
You could pay off a 5 year mortgage on a new house with an average job.
You bought a new car every 2 years.
Everyone was healthy because we did not eat GMO or hormone raised food.
The wife cooked real food every night instead of getting shit fast food on the way home.
News was about advancements in science not the latest presidential scandal.
Children rode their bikes around and explored the real world- instead of sitting on the couch immersed in a world of pixels.
Wyatt Perry
Blacks were better off under segregation.
Andrew Cooper
Everyone was full of national pride after WWII. A lot of kids died, we had to proud of them and our government to justify it. But it was also well deserved. FDR set the standard for great presidents and we rallied against evil.
Then Vietnam happened and some people lost faith in the government, combined with decades of republicans destroying everything FDR did to create the middle class through the disguise of race baiting.
The 1950s were what happens when Americas priorities were straight and had the greatest president running things for almost 4 terms. But everyone wanted to fuck over blacks, but legally blacks are people so we just fucked over ourselves.
Jordan Johnson
Yeah thats the other thing. Go take a drive through the absolute worst parts of your city. Imagine it all-white and mostly clean, cared-for lawns, kids on bikes waving at you as you drive by. A couple of lemonade stands maybe.
Thats how it was late-60s early-70s. 50s were even more like that. Just throw in some of the kids had 22 rifles. Unsupervised.
Oliver Reed

1950's were degenerate as fuck. Now the 1650's on the other hand now we are talking.

I’d risk the polio for the Jim Crow laws.
Julian Perry
Spot on, most dumbasses here only view propagandist advertisements that purposely idealized the suburban life in order to maintain the economy following World War II.
You guys realize that Jews are responsible for a significant portion of suburban infrastructure in the US? William Levitt and his Levittown program is what paved the way for many white Americans to ascend socioeconomically. Of course, institutionalized racism(redlining, FHA guidelines, suppression of black veterans from receiving GI Bill funds) limited these boons to only whites, so that minority communities faltered and diminished without the billions in aid the government was deliberately funneling to whites(yet you retards decry social programs).
Read Holy Land by D.J. Waldie for the 1950s suburban redpill.

I’ve come to realize this as well. It’s easy to look back on childhood with rose tinted lenses as a simpler time. It wasn’t the world that was simpler during childhood, it’s a person’s perspective that’s simpler. Most people don’t face the evils of the life during childhood. Many never face them at all. But it’s easy to think that the 90’s were free of evil when they were in fact filled with the same types of shorty people of today.
That said, some times are certainly better than others, with stronger societies, happier families, and greater prosperity and liberty. The 50’s were the peak of those things.
Without a hint of irony, I can say that while people were shit back then too, things were objectively better for people like us.
Carter Brown
>polio
Yeah, it sucked.
>the Jim Crow laws
These would more than make up for the polio, however.

There are dark sides to the era
- not as healthy as you might expect. infections and parasites weren't as recognised by the public at large and embarrassment could prevent seeking care for some things
- like all the various gut worms. it was kind of expected one would come across those in public toilets, especially gas stations and such.
- anybody retarded, deformed or disabled had it much much rougher. It was an era where an entire block of people might point and laugh and play tricks on them if they were unaccompanied and sometimes if they were.
- families tended to hide away people like that and not speak about them. The crazy aunt in the attic was real.

FDR was a commie and our people at the time were tricked into the war. Before the start of WW1/2. The people were heavily against the ideas. You are just a retarded shill.
Gavin Jenkins
I would also say that it was great culturally because homosexuals at the time largely knew their place. The Stonewall riots hadn’t happened, the original beatniks mostly kept to themselves (aside from Ginsburg, of course), and groups like the Mattachine Society were focused on assimilating homosexuals to greater society and keeping their cliques apart from causing controversy.
Zachary Long
That was before the dark times, before the Jews got control.
Sebastian Turner
>They literally think the millions of homeless people and drug addicts suddenly appeared out of nowhere overnight. They think black people somehow didn't exist despite being a nearly equal share of the population back then as they are now - it's hardly gone up at all.
"Homeless people" were Bums back in the day. Bums was the name everybody called them. They were usually older white guys, drunks that slept in weeds near railroad tracks. They wore worn-out suits usually, with hats, and smelled awful.
Hoboes dressed worse but typically worked as day laborers and drank liquor in flop houses.
They were crazies and kids weren't allowed near either of those sorts of people.
Cooper Rivera
I hate to break it to you friend bu the US has always been under the sway of the kikes. By the way of the Masons the kikes spread the poison of equality. The US was purpose designed from the beginning to produce good goyim.
Nathaniel Edwards
In the fifties and sixties the overwhelming majority of black families were two parent homes living off of a husband's income instead of a welfare check. Today almost three-fourths of black families are raised in single-parent homes, almost half are on welfare, and the per capita rate of incarceration among black men is almost five times the rate it was in 1950.
Christian Wright
Wait, are you saying that everyone wanted their family to add value to society and was ashamed when this was not the case? Sounds fucking horrid.
Also, are you implying that that the medical knowledge of a given area is dependant on the culture? You're so racis user.

Alexander Myers
No. I'm saying that people were terrified of what the neighbors would think if they knew Aunt Millie in the attic with MS existed.
The medical knowledge thing is all you, user. Nobody had the same exposure to medical lore that we enjoy today. A lot of what was known commonly was pretty much folkloric

Based and redpilled. A civil war would be worth it if it allowed us to get back the freedom of association that was lost during the civil rights era. We also had jewish quotas in academia up until the 50s

Dominic Cooper
>Many people think that photos of upper class white people are how everyone in the country lived
The point is that the values and ideas presented in those adds clearly had to appeal to the type of people that lived back then. That's the point you fucking moron.

This. Her entire premise is based on misinformation.

That's because the silents encouraged conformity to social norms (something that a modern "conservative" would call fascist)

>Why are the 50s so villainized as they are by the America left?
It's a stale af forced maymay going on 3 decades now. It was the beginning of the thaw, the decade of desegregation in the military and schools, Rock N' Roll capturing the popular culture, etc. It was way worse in the preceding decades.
Jordan White
Yeah, I'm sure men like Dick Cheney & Timothy Sloan genuinely care about the working man.
Carter Johnson
They're both kikes and so are you. Gas yourself.
Nicholas King
The 50s were great because women still added value. Even the black community wasn't a bunch of degenerates back then. Feminism and the rise of the welfare state in the 60s ruined everything.
