I tell people all of the time that this is the one logical fallacy that I completely disagree with. Liberalism, to socialism, to communism basically IS the slippery slope, so I'm sure whatever (((intellectual))) decided that the slippery slope was a fallacy I'm sure had (((motives)))

You never believe in it until you see it first hand. Thats the thing with right wing arguments, why people become more conservative as they age. Leftism exists in a state of wishful thinking. They want to legislate from the position of what could be rather than what is. So as time goes along one begins to notice that rather than lining up with reality liberalism instead skews further and further from it. Until the inevitable collapse of society mass executions and then we begin the whole process over again. Conservatism legislates from a position of what is rather than what could be.

It's an argumentative fallacy, not an actual one. In argumentation you want to argue the topic at hand, not deflect to some possibility that may or may not happen in the future. In that regard it is a fallacy.

It's a legitimate concern. It may even be the biggest concern. Nearly everything that's fucked up today is fucked up because somebody let something minor go unchallenged some time back. Every freedom you loose, every new degeneracy -- all started as some much smaller concession.
